Just watched a bulletin on this evening's news stating that Botox is now being used to treat acne scarring. They showed a woman who had scars all around her chin area - she received six or seven injections of Botox in that area, fillers were also mentioned but not elaborated on. After treatment, her scars were invisible, the skin was nice and smooth.

I know that Botox can help with the look of enlarged pores but this is the first time I've heard of it being used to treat acne scars.

I'm assuming the effects are temporary and treatments must be kept up? Question

yes it does help scars. Its a special technique wherein botox is injected just below the surface of the skin and it paralyzes the small muscles surrounding large pores and scars, making the scars smaller. This is temporary and also expensive. However, it is still a crap shoot.I have heard it helps some patients but not others.Just like botox injected into the neck to relieve the "stringy" neck syndrome.
