someone told me that heat applied to the face may age the skin. anyone heard this? |

I think they say it is something to do with the capillaries, they contract or something with application of heat, but I think this can be a good thing, as hot/cold towels I use before and after my facial exercises and it makes my skin feel very good and toned. Might just be a psychological thing, but I'm convinced it does a toning thing to the skin. |

Heat increases the production of melanin that can result pigmentation. Excess melanin appears as dark spots on the face. Excessive exposure to the UV rays of the sun can make the skin darker over a time and can result in age spots. Skin rashes are most common problem. |

Extreme temperatures, either hot or cold, can cause broken capillaries (those red threads that are most frequently seen on noses). |

I just finished reading a book few weeks ago "The beautiful skin workout" by Dr. Michelle Copeland.
She points it several times throughout the book that heat is NOT good for skin.
Any kind of heat will cause dehydration and sooner aging.
I hate to agree with her. I love sauna |
