What is your favorite for a cream foundation? I was thinking about the Too Faced one but it has retinol in it? Should I be concerned about going outside with this? |

I like Cover FX Skinprep FX. I usually bring my foundation and go to a Sephora to try products. If you have one close to you, just try a bunch on until you find one you like. They now have a display with all sorts for primers you can try. I like to get a sample of 1-2 favorites and then test them out for a day or two to see how things really hold up before I purchase anything.
Pro Makeup artist KJ Bennett has a website where he lists the favorite products of the pro makeup industry, without the advertising hype that goes on even in magazine reviews. I like to start there and go through his list of recommendations and see what works for me. He has a section on primers. It has helped me cut down the time I spend trying every conceivable product in Sephora. It'swww.inmykit.com
I wouldn't necessarily follow his recommendations for serums and moisturizers, etc. because makeup artists are into things that work instantly (which is great), but I think you will find products on this forum that will give you better results long term, if used regularly. Although, I must say that Philosophy and Peter Thomas Roth Face Peel pads have given quick relief from dull skin on occasion.
As for the Toos Faced Primer, if you like it, go ahead. There is unlikely enough retinol in it to cause a problem. It's now the rage to put extra things in makeup so they can say it's good for your face. It's more about marketing than effectiveness. |

Thank you. I appreciate the note! It was very helpful and I agree that everything seems to be in everything these days. |
