when you use retin a, it repairs collagen. does it repair elastin as well? |

No.. collagen and elastin are two different things. Collagen is what gives you that firm, plump look whereas elastin is what allows your skin to stretch and retract back to its previous form. As to whether RetinA repairs both, I can't say for sure |

they are different; however i find there is no / very little products claim that they can repair elastin.
A lot of the products does claim that they can help increase collagen !! |

Collagen and elastin are two different proteins with two equally different functions.
Elastin has been found to be improved alongside with collagen in some studies.
For instance in,
Humbert PG,Haftek M,Creidi P,Lapi č re C, Nusgens B,Richard A,et al.( 2003 ) Topical ascorbic acid on photoaged skin: clinical,
topographical and ultrastructural evaluation: double - blind study vs. placebo . Exp Dermatol 12,237 44
5% application of L ascorbic acid increased both collagen and elasticity significantly.
Copper also is an important co-factor for elastin. |
