I'm taking a Chinese medicine class and the instructor talked about how you can use acupuncture on your face as a kind of "face lift." I was wondering if anyone has tried this and what your results have been.
Also, just for fun and FYI, the instructor says eating barley is anti-aging for your skin. And, brown sesame seeds are supposed to turn gray hair black! ![Laughing](images/smiles/lol.gif) |

I've done acupuncture before. I was doing it regularly for a couple of years. They put the needles everywhere, depending on the symptoms I was experiencing or what was happening in my life.
I can't say that it worked specifically as anti-aging, but it is a great stress reliever. I always looked fresher and more alive when I left the appointment, but I can't say whether it was specifically the treatment or the results of it calming me. I can't say that the treatment was long lasting, but anything that helps you balance yourself will be anti-aging in the long run IMO. |

The sesame thing is plausible: sesame seeds are rich in copper, and a copper deficiency is one possible cause of graying hair. |

gosh I'm surprised this hasn't caught on more by now worldwide. On a site as savvy as this I expect everyone to have at least tried it
So to answer your question I had it done regularly for about 3 years with a top practitioner where I'm from who actually used to train others as well. I thoroughly enjoyed it and felt it really enhanced and rejuvenated my face and 'maintained' things so to speak.I was younger then(age34-37) so I can't comment on the degree of improvement for those over 40. It didn't hurt a bit though and was very relaxing. They do points in other areas to to complement the facial points and stimulate certain organs/meridians.The cost of it can add up though since it is recommended as once or twice a month maintenance at approx $100 a pop after an initial course of about 8-10. I guess kind of like getting a monthly facial..I always felt I really glowed after and felt much more 'beautiful'
Here in the UK it's even costlier hence me not seeking it out further after moving here.I do wish I could still have it done but I think I need the stronger sh*t now anyway:lol:
My cousin still does it and has been for the past 7 yrs and she looks incredible at 52. Not sure if it's down to that though as she always looked much younger than her years but it certainly hasn't hurt. Plus I know she has nothing else done!
Hope that helps-if you have any other questions based on my experience don't hesitate to ask ![Smile](images/smiles/smile.gif) |

Thanks Pollyanna, I guess it is something that you would really have to maintain. I'm planning on trying acupuncture but I'm not sure I want to focus on my face. |
