Hey everyone!
So for a while now, I've noticed that just after I finish washing my face, my nose reveals all these tiny whiteheads on the pores that cannot be wiped away. But after I dry my face, it goes away in about 2-3 minutes. I thought getting the Clarisonic would clear this up for me (it has cleared up the rest of my face though) but it hasn't. It has certainly still made it better though because prior to the use of my Clarisonic, these whiteheads would not go away for quite some time and made my pores look huge. Does anyone know what it is? Is it just white heads surfacing everytime I wash? How can I get rid of it? |

You say they disappear after you dry your face? Are you washing with any type of oxygenated product? |

They disappear 10-15 minutes after drying my face. I don't think I'm using an oxygen cleanser.. I'm using dermalogica's special cleansing gel. |

I think maybe the same thing happens to me: right after washing they look like little white flaps of skin or something, and they're along the sides of my nose. Then when they dry, they return to flesh-colored.
For me, what they are is blackhead plugs sticking out of my pores. Do you think that's what they might be for you too?
If so, ingredients that help are tretinoin, BHA, and AHA. But that's typically a sensitive part of the face--and certainly for me, so I just count on my tretinoin migrating from nearby. And maybe once a week, when my skin is good and dry, I take a pair of precision tweezers and pull the little buggers out. Gross, I know, but classic blackhead removal causes too much trauma to my poor skin (broken capillaries), and this seems to work pretty well. |

Yeah that's definitely what they sound like. It's not really a bump, so much as just a flap of white skin. Sort of like when you cut yourself, and when the wound is just about to turn into a scab? Don't know how to describe it lol but it's basically just white and looks squishy. I'll be trying the alpha hydrox souffle this weekend so hopefully that will help
Thanks for your input! |

You're welcome! Good luck with the AHA, hope it helps. |

Oh and the physical extraction that you do, does it end up causing more or make it worse? |

I think maybe the acne needle could deal with them |

No--they do fill up again slowly, but good products help slow that process down. And I've noticed the tretinoin has been making my pores slightly smaller, because the plugs have been smaller lately than they used to be... |

So you just pull them out with a tweezer? Does it hurt/bleed? |

Nope, if you do it gently enough and they are truly the ends of blackhead plugs, it doesn't hurt or bleed at all. It works best on the plugs that are sticking out quite a ways--really narrow-tip tweezers help, just steady your hand, grab hold of the flap, and pull straight out. But I wouldn't try to do any digging or anything.
For me, this beats all the other extraction techniques hands down. The classic squeeze or blackhead extractor caused broken capillaries. The Biore strips ripped off some of my skin. And I also used a Buf-puf for a while, but it contributed to some capillary damage.
Oh, a caution: I was tempted to try the same technique on the blackheads beneath my lower lip... It worked in the sense of getting them out, but then some of those pores got upset and formed little zits. That's the most sensitive part of my face, though, so maybe that has something to do with it. |
