sorry if this is wrong part of the forum to ask this(please redirect me if necessary) but as it pertains to skin care and health stuff I am just wondering as I've just moved back to Canada (Vancouver)when ordering skin care, supplements etc from here now how bad are the customs charges and/or shipping situation with stuff from the U.S.?? I get the impression they are pretty militant here :/ Does it depend very specifically on what your order or how big the package? |

Hi Pollyanna, I haven't ordered a lot of things online, but I remember hearing that if the order was kept to under something like $20 customs wouldn't bat an eye. My orders have been around $30... maybe up to $45, with no problems, from the states, and I think once from Germany as well.
I'm concerned about a bigger order (about $100) I need to put in from eastern asia though, which I'm sure will be a problem. So I'm also interested in feedback from those ordering into Canada. |

I've order regularly from iherb.com, with value sometimes over 40$. I've also ordered skin products from Nanci with value over 50$ without Canada Customs involved apparently.
I think that the size of the package might be a factor. Still, iherb sends its orders in boxes.
I believe that you don't pay customs on many items made in the US. I also think that certain companies are tagged because of their illicit products.
So if the item that you want is allowed here, no problem.
If your parcel is stopped by Canada Customs, you'll only have to pay the sales tax that you would ordinarily pay here, plus 5$ for the parcel. So, order and see. |

I've only been charged once, but that was because I used UPS, and most of the fee was for the broker. From my experience, always make sure that Canada Post takes over delivery operations once it crosses the border. |
