Hi Everyone,
I really need help with selecting some Yonka products. I'm looking for something that can help with fine lines/wrinkles (I'm noticing some forehead ones starting...or perhaps I'm just getting sensitive about approaching the 3-0).
I'd also like to even out my skin tone/reduce pores etc...
I already have my Yonka program but, am looking to add some products. I've looked at Phyto 52, Yonka 28, Fruitelia PS, Yonka Dermol 1, 2, 3 etc.... but they all seem the same to me. Can someone please provide advice?
Thank you! |

Hi Kel!
You didn’t specify what is your skin type. Generally speaking, you really should go into a Yon-Ka spa and have an esthetician analyze your skin and recommend treatments. Remember that homecare products come to support the skincare regimen between spa treatments.
If you tell me your town or zip code I can tell you spa locations near you. Or you can always call our office at (800) 533-6276 during business hours (East Coast) and ask for locations.
But to not leave you hanging, and for the sake of giving you an answer, I will recommend some homecare products.
You’re still young, and at this age, you’re most likely trying to prevent aging. I would highly recommend trying our new product Vital Defense. It’s rolling out to spas these days and should be available everywhere by May 1st. It’s an age-prevention daytime moisturizer, that has anti-pollution and antioxidant actions and is super hydrating. It contains moringa peptides and myrtle flower extracts. It’s very lightweight and smells divine. Even though it will superbly hydrate, its lightness will allow any skin type to use it.
If you truly have fine lines and wrinkles on the forehead, I would recommend using Alpha-Complex at night for 28 nights (or a month). It’s a product to be used one month out of a season (=use for1 month, let the skin regenerate for 2 months). It’s a gel that contains fruit acids and it will gently (but effectively) remove skin layers and help with fine lines and wrinkles, while hydrating. At the spa you can try the treatment Alpha-Vital – it uses a stronger, higher-grade acid, and is a very effective treatment for fine lines and wrinkles.
To minimize pores, I would recommend using our clay mask Masque 103 (if you’re oily or combination) or Masque 105 (if you’re dry or sensitive). It’s a mask that contains 3 different clays and essential oils. Use it twice a week, leave on for 20 minutes and rinse away. While it’s on, keep it wet by spray our toner Lotion (the word ‘Lotion’ literally means ‘toner’ in French, so don’t confuse it with the English word ‘lotion’). Choose the toner according to your skin type (there are 2 versions). The mask will also help improve the coloring of the skin. When you wash it off you can use one of the Yon-Ka cleansers. Generally speaking, cleansing is such a crucial part of keeping your skin healthy, I cannot emphasize it enough. My personal favorite among the cleansers is the gel cleanser Gel Nettoyant. But other people prefer the cleansing milk or the cleansing cream.
For night time, I would recommend you use the moisturizer Phyto 58 (choose the version according to your skin, there are 2). It will hydrate and detoxify your skin. I believe you are too young for major anti-aging like firming.
For the eye area, it really depends on what your needs are.
-For hydration and to prevent wrinkles: Alpha-Contour.
-For nourishment: Nutri-Contour (unless you skin is very dry, you are most likely too young for this one).
-For dark circles and puffiness: Phyto-Contour.
If you do use Phyto-Contour, remember that it only drains and does moisturizes. So alternate it with Alpha-Contour (use one for when you’re puffy, let’s say in the morning, and the other one at night) or mix them together.
The Dermols (Dermol 1, 2, and 3) are simply hydrating boosters. You can add a couple of drops to any moisturizer when you feel you need some extra water hydration. So if you’re dehydrated because of the weather, flying, taking medications, etc. – it’s a great little product to have around. 1 is for oily/combination, 2 is for dry, 3 is for sensitive.
And of course, don’t forget to protect your skin from the sun – you will prevent many a wrinkle this way. If you use makeup with SPF that’s good. But you really do have to have a good layer of SPF on your skin to truly protect it. If you’re in the sun, make sure you are protected. We are about to launch an SPF 40 cream here in the USA, so once it’s available (April-May most likely), you can always layer it on top of your moisturizer. Just make sure to exfoliate at night (you can use our Gommage).
Again, I can’t stress enough how beneficial it would be for you to make an appointment with a Yon-Ka esthetician. Only a professional can really take a look at your skin and do justice with analyzing it and prescribing treatments and products accordingly. So please consider it.
I hope this was helpful. Feel free to ask me anything.
Warm regards,

Hi Yonka USA,
Thank you for your reply--sorry I didn't list my skin type as I was looking for aging information and wanted just the name of the product (I could then determine if I should be a PS etc...).
For the record, I'm a dry skin type, slightly sensitive with the occasional breakout. A nice mix!
Yes it would be absolutely wonderful to go to a salon that has Yonka (I used to) but, unfortunately the new city I live in has NONE that I can find. Obviously, that would have been my first choice but, since there are none I had to come here. The most commonly used product here is Dermalogica which I hate, so my spa treatments will be very infrequent. I am in Canada therefore no zip code for me. I suspect you won't be able to help me find a salon in Canada that's close to me, am I right?
I already have my basic Yonka-masque, gommage, lotion and lait nettoyant (gel is too drying); as well as Creme PS, phyto contour (I don't find it helps with puffiness or dark circles but, it has helped my milia), elastin jour and nuit (I'm not a fan of these products-if I use them for too many days in a row, I break out).
I have a few clarification questions and I'd love to hear your input. You suggested Phyto 58--any reason why you didn't suggest Phyto 52? Do you think I'm too young for it?
Is Alpha-Complex used all over the face or only on the problem area? (I'm not crazy-there are some very fine lines starting on my forehead and I want to control that now).
Is galbol 90 and fruitelia also too much for me now in your opinion?
Thank you so much for the advice...I'm really interested in vital defense when it's available in Canada and I'll be ordering the alpha complex as well.
I look forward to hearing from you! |

Hi Kel,
From reading you message, I am actually not so sure that you skin type is dry.
Dry skin type means skin that does not manufacture enough oil and therefore needs additional nourishment. As we age, our body makes less and therefore as we age, some people who used to have a normal skin type become a little more dry.
But if someone almost 30 years old is using Elastine Jour and is breaking out from it, it's likely a sign that you simply don't need all this nourishment (=oil), and that's why you're breaking out.
That's why I keep recommending you go to see an esthetician and have you skin analyzed.
You didn't list where in Canada you arem so unfortunately I can't give you locations, but what you can do is call Yon-Ka Canada at 800-361-1263, then click 2 for customer service, then give them the town you're in. Just make sure you call during business hours (they're in QC, so East Coast business hours).
By the way, Vital Defense launched in Canada this week, so it's available!
To answer you other questions:
It sounds to me like you should switch to products that are hydrating but not nourishing (water moisture as opposed to oil nourishment).
If you skin feel 'dry' it's probably dehydrated (surface dehydration caused by the weather, heating in the house, etc.). And what you need in this case are moisturizers that add water to you skin, but not too much oil (because extra oil may cause you to break out, if you skin makes enough of it).
So I would assume that products like Creme 28 and Vital Defense would work well for you. Like I said before, Vital Defense will also resolve age-prevention, so I would highly recommend it. Also remember that our skin needs different types of products throughout the year. Perhaps Creme 28 would work for you well in the winter, but if you're combination (like I suspect you are), Creme 93 would probably be a better fit in the summer time.
Alpha-Complex: Use it all over the face and neck (avoid under eyes, which is a very delicate area). The idea is to do a gentle and effective skin renewal of the whole face and neck. Not just certain areas.
Phyto 58 Vs. Phyto 52.
Phyto 52 is more for tightening and firming, as it is the product with the the highest percentage of rosemary extracts in the Yon-Ka facial collection. You can use it if you like, but if you're not even 30, your face is not likely to need firming.
Galbol 90 - same as Phyto 52 (because together they are the firming duo) - it's a hydrating and tightening fluid. At your age, you probably don't need tightening. If you feel you need extra water moisture, add a couple of drops of Dermol 3 to your moisturizer (I chose 3 because you said your skin was sensitive).
Fruitelia - you're not too young to use it, BUT from what I am hearing regarding your skin, I probably would not recommend it for you. Remember that Fruitelia contains some oils and titanium dioxide, and for a moisturizer it's quite heavy. Since you told me you're breaking out from Elastine Jour, you should not use Fruitelia. Stick to Vital Defense for day time and Phyto 58 for night time.
But please do find a Yon-Ka spa near you and have an esthetician examine your skin, for a true professional analysis. Alright?
Warm regards,
Ido

Morning Ido!
My skin is a combination (especially during certain times of the year) however, the areas that are dry are definitely dry....I saw a Yonka specialist before and she did confirm that for me. She told me to use masque 1 to try and get some moisture back in my skin. I have eczema as well (not as badly on my face as my hands, arms and legs).
Interesting that you say fruitelia is probably too heavy for me. I have a small sample that I've been using for two weeks and have had no problems with it....there's something about the elastin that causes me issues. Whether it's an ingredient or if it's a bit heavier than the fruitelia but, there's something there. I'm not really crazy over its smell either.
Again, I really need to re-iterate that I'm not opposed to going to a spa, I just don't have any near me. My postal code is S4T 7X9 by all means-try for me! If you can find one within an hour or two away from me, I'd be thrilled!
So is there a downside to me using the firming cremes now ( such as Galbol 90 or Phyto 58 )-is there a chance that it might be too oil-based and will cause me to break out?
Is there really anything I need to add to my regime (other than maybe the vital defense or alpha complex)? In the morning I use the lait nettoyant, lotion PS, creme PS (although the last couple weeks-I had been trying the fruitelia) and phyto contour. At night I have been using the same except no phyto contour. I use my gommage and masque (no. 1) as directed and I alternate using the two elastins (I put on the jour this morning). I know you've been very helpful at trying to please my anti-aging requests but, I sense that you don't think I need any of it....so really, should I be changing my routine at all?
Thank you thank you thank you!
