As summer quickly approaches, i want to give my skin a break from harsh/acidic products (retin a, vit c toner).
I would like to make an antioxidant cream/serum that i could use daily to promote collagen formation and fight free radicals.
I have been looking into the non acidic vitamin c derivatives including MAP. Does anybody have any experience of using this?
Also, can anybody suggest any other non acidic DIY serums they use that have shown results? |

Hi Jedder,
Since nobody has chimed in with thoughts or interest in your topic, feel free to PM me (for my thoughts) if you like.. |

I've been liking this recently all on its own but wonder if it wouldn't make a good DIY base to boost with other "stuff"?
NOW CoQ10 Antioxidant Serum
Ingredients: De-ionized water, aloe vera (aloe barbadensis) leaf gel, vegetable glycerine, xanthan gum, soy lecithin, coq10 (co-enzyme q10, natural all-trans form), wheat germ oil, gaba, avocado oil, benzyl alcohol, phenoxyethanol, sweet almond oil, sodium hyaluronate (hyaluronic acid), l-carnosine, cedar bark extract and green tea extract.

Hi Jedder, I've been quite happy with my 10%tetra C (from lotioncrafters), E and jojoba serum. It very gentle and it's worked brilliantly for fine lines under my eyes.
I wonder whether I can add coQ10 to this...
btw that NOW serum sounds fabulous Havana! |

I use a map serum as a standalone. It doesn't irritate like acidic formulations do. Map is a slow worker though, it takes months to see any results at all and has to be used in concentrations greater than 10%, it's also quite expensive to buy. |

It's super simple:
-2mL tetra C
-17mL jojoba oil (cold pressed): note- rice bran oil would also be incorporated for it's ferulic properties but I didnt have any at the time.
-1mL vitamin E (covi-ox would be perfect)
- a few drops of jasmine essential oil
It's my first DIY product so I kept it nice and simple. I think the idea for this was from Mimisilversheep over at SCT forum. |

Simple is often better in my experience!
Could you tell me where you purchase the tetra? |

I really doubt they are exporting anything after the devastation in Japan, what is already stocked is perfectly safe I am quite sure. I have a feeling all governments including Japan's will be checking anything that is exported once they are able to again. |

I am not into mixing & making DIY stuff when there are more than 4 ingredients involved... lol. So, to save money I go to a reputable spa & buy a package of Collagen masks. And it worked. Usually to save further, my friends would get the masks for me in Taiwan. What irked me is that in Asia, the rebranding of products happen so quickly that by the time, I need new ones, I can not find them anymore.
I think it doesn't hurt to be careful as the effects of radiation cannot be detected immediately unless one gets huge dosage of it. After the second blast of the power plants in Japan, our local Jap supermarkets were sold out of many of their products..... |
