After wk. 18 on Obagi will you see a big difference in your skin by taking it to 24 wks before going on a maintenance regime? I'm on week 21 now, and am still waiting for that "WOW" skin change moment! I have religiously followed all the steps, but still am not where I would like to be. Help....please! |

Has your skin improved at least? Not everyone will be able to experience the same thing unforunately |

Yes, however not quite to the degree I had hoped. I was at the Obagi Skincare Institute in CA and Dr. Obagi recommends now on continuing through 5 months before going on maintenance. I don't mind doing this, but was curious if that additional 6 wks. made a huge difference for anyone (18 to now 24wks). I'm still hoping for that flawless skin, I guess? Have to say though, his place in CA is AMAZING! |

Hi ChrisAnn,
I continued with the Nuderm protocol for 24 weeks prior to going onto maintenance. Like you, I never really experienced that "Wow" moment. My progress was also really slow. I didn't see much improvement until about the 12 week mark. That being said, Obagi did take care of most of my hyperpigmentation issues and I've kept them at bay during maintenance as well.
I would also love to have porcelain, flawless skin but I don't think that's a realistic goal for me. But, I still keep hoping and wishing!!
My skin, overall, is much healthier and smoother than it was pre-Obagi.
What kind of improvements have you seen and what are you still hoping to achieve?
**I would love to see Dr. Obagi's facilities -- bet they're awesome!! |

My results too have been great! I still have some textural issues going on on the forehead (any suggestions?), but I have absolutely no hyperpigmentation and my wrinkles have been eliminated. Not too bad for a 43yr old who was constantly out in the sun with no protection. Hate to admit to using baby oil to get that perfect tan! Obagi has really reversed my sun damaged skin. I am still curious to know if by increasing to 24 wks. if I will see some more improvements? Dr. Obagi seems to think it will, but it hasn't yet. I'm at wk. 21. His place in Beverly Hills is over the top! Dr. Obagi and his staff were great and very informative. I live on the east coast, so it was quite a treat!! |

If you've gone 21 weeks already, I would definitely continue to 24. I don't know that I saw any major change from 18 to 24, but maybe there are other benefits I wasn't fully aware of. At any rate, it can't hurt!
I still have textural issues that I'd like to deal with as I don't think Nuderm can take care of at this point.
It sounds like you've really had fantastic results! Do you have a maintenance plan? |

Chris Ann, it sounds like you have had fantastic results! What kind of textural issues are you talking about on your forehead? I hope my question will not be taken the wrong way, but are your expectations realistic? There is only so much topical treatments can do, and I just wonder if you are expecting more than they may be able to give you?
I am so jealous that you got to see Dr. Obagi and his facilities! |

Rileygirl & Kims, I might be expecting too much, I know I have what looks like bumps on my forehead that make it appear rough not smooth. Any suggestions?? When I go on maintenance, I'm thinking of adding the ZO TE pads. Any thoughts? Have either of you done a TCA peel or Vbeam for textural issues? Or any suggestions on what has worked well for you?
You should see Dr. Obagi's skin!! It's as flawless & smooth as a baby's bottom!!! |

I have textural issues, too, that sound very similar to yours. I've never had a TCA peel or Vbeam treatment. I did have an IPL a few months after going on maintenance but I really saw no improvement.
I do think some type of peel or laser would help with the textural issues; I just don't know which one! Scheduling a consultation with my plastic surgeon is on my list of "things to do." At this point, I would think my face is as ready as it's ever going to be to have some type of procedure after priming and prepping with Obagi for two years! |

The bumps sound like what I get occasionally. Almost like pimples that never come to a head? Have you tried any type of exfoliation with either a home peel or something like a microfiber cloth? If not, when you are in your maintenance, I would maybe look into trying something like a mild home peel with lactic acid, or using a microfiber cloth or the Clarisonic, and also trying a clay mask. I use the TE pads, and the Fresh Umbrian Clay bar when I get those little bumps and within 2 days, the bumps are gone for me.
I would expect Dr. Obagi's skin to look that good, so I am glad to hear that it does!! (Chris Ann, since he put you on the system, have you discussed these bumps with him? If not, he would be the first I would ask, even if it is just through a phone call to his office?) |

Chris Ann and Rileygirl,
What are ZO TE pads? The "bumps" I have seem under the skin. Truthfully, they're probably only noticeable to me; but in outdoor lighting, they can seem really bad! I'm hoping they aren't SH.
Thanks! |

That sounds exactly like what I have, Rileygirl! Dr. Obagi recommends the TE pads and a fraxel laser treatment for the forehead area. The laser procedure is very expensive unfortunately & as much as I'm grateful that he has such a fabulous skincare line, we all know that he is in the money making business! I will try the clay bar..sounds like it works for you and purchase a microfiber cloth. Can I purchase at Sephora?
Kims, the TE pads remove dead skin cells and contain 2% salicylic acid which exfoliates the skin & congested pores. You mentioned SH? What is this? |

Hi Chris Ann,
Everything sounds great! What specific changes did you see in going to 24 weeks??
Do you have a maintenance plan at this point?
I'm in the process of doing a six-week -- full on Obagi -- stint right now. Just hoping to "kick start" my skin and hopefully see some new improvements as well.
I'm also going to try the clay bar that Rileygirl recommended. Thanks! |

Kims,
Big changes in the tone & plumpness of my skin by extending the period of time on the Nu Derm system. It is even with no textural issues, even under the worst type of lighting! You know the kind we all try to avoid, lol! I honestly can't believe it! Guess Dr. Obagi was right.
Good luck with the 6wk. stint! |

I'd say the main improvement I had between weeks 18 through 24 is the skin continuing to thicken as collagen is being continually stimulated. |

Thanks to both of you! I'm hoping for some "visible" improvements while on my "kick start" plan! |
