The joys of ageing. I'm in my early thirties, but still going out for a few drinks late into the night. I'm out at least once a week, very occasionally up to three. Obviously this was not a big deal a few years ago, but now I'm discovering that the aftereffects show up on my skin. My job revolves around this lifestyle, so it is very difficult to change this point.

It looks dry, sallow and weathered for at least two days afterwards, no matter how much moisturizer and oils I use. It also looks like tiny wrinkles appear on my skin, stretching out from my pores. This resolves itself in about 48 hours, but I've even started using makeup more regularly to combat the "partying" uglies--and I really hate makeup. Only use it to camoflauge breakouts.

Does anyone have any suggestions to combat this besides A. Not going out and B. Investing in quality makeup?

Here's my routine:

A.M.

Cetaphil Cleanser
Vitamin C Serum (every other day)
Cetaphil Moisturizer (dry areas)
Sunscreen of at least 30SPF

P.M.

Cetaphil Cleanser
Retin A (unless eczema flares up, then I'd use Protopic until it clears)
Cetaphil Moisturizer or Argan Oil

I used to have very oily skin, still a bit acne prone to this day (hence the Retin-A). My skin is now quite dry, with breakouts, and have eczema flares in late autumn (never used to have eczema) Don't know if it is due to the excessively dry weather in my new(ish) city or due to age.

I actually think the eczema is unrelated to current skin woes, however, just giving out my background!

If your skin is dry, why not add hydrating serum to your routine.

Sounds like you might get dehydrated. Try drinking extra water before and after your nights out.

I do drink huge amounts of water, always have a water bottle with me! (don't ask)

Maybe a hydrating serum would be good, might just be a hangover from the days when any moisturizer seemed to give me breakouts. It is annoying to have dry and acne-prone (and now ageing!) skin at the same time

Drinking plenty of water really helps for dry skin also use organic skin care products, as these natural products are suitable for any type of skin.

Dry skin is acidic skin.
Ditch out all the harsh chemicals you put on the face and go at least 50% fruit juice diet.
That would resolve the issue.

Water helps,just make sure its not city water !!!Bying a water distiller is a good choice.Bottled water would be better to never be drunk again cause it contains BPA(plastic chemicals).

Wine would be better for your skin than most of other drinks.

Whenever you drink alcohol, drink lots of water with lemon (vitamin C). Or take vitamin C supplements (several capsules right after drinking alcohol). And then try a good hydrating serum with HA, peptides, barrier-repairing ingredients and antioxidants.

I used to have eczema since childhood then in my early twenties while trying to deal with a different issue, I found giving up gluten, sugar and dairy...and eating more of an alkaline-forming diet as well as taking supplements of EFA, a potent multi-vitamin, garlic, caprylic acid and probiotics cured my eczema for good. I don't know if all those played a part but that's the list of supps I was taking. I don't think it's unusual for eczema to develop out of the blue later in life and I really believe diet can make a huge difference. The best way to glow your skin is to drink water as much as you can. Drinking water is very much good for health.

Maybe you can try to use hydrating mask everynight.It's useful for me after my skin feel tied.
