Hi, I'm new to this. I've read lots about Obaji and after a retinol nightmare which has seen my face covered in fine lines (non-of which were there before) I have finally bitten the bullet and decided to give this a go - with lots of trepidation. I am hoping that I did not push through the ugly stage when I used the retinol and I'm determined to see this through to the end. I have to try and do something to rectify the mess the retinal made of my face.

I'm now on day four and have started to peel like mad. My face, today, was quite red - obviously so - I had a good few comments at work. I think they all imagine I have had a chemical peel. Perhaps that would have been easier.

My main concern is removing a criss-cross of lines under my eyes where the retinol I used seeped into my tear troughs, albeit that I tried to be careful. I have seen various posts suggesting you should not use tretinoin under the eyes but I feel I have no choice. Lots of posters seem to suggest they have good results and I just hope I didn't give it sufficient time last time.

I have seen lots of people say Retin A caused wrinkles. which Dra seem to deny. Unless there is anything else which can literally age you in about three days - by about a decade - then I am living proof that it can. This is why am so concerned using it again but I have tried so many things over the last year to correct the damage and have found nothing that really makes any difference.

I don't know whether anyone will see or read this. I hope so. I think this will be a difficult journey and I'd love to hear your thoughts about your own experiences on the regime. I will post an update tomorrow all within the next few days. I am laying off the regime tonight which I know I'm not supposed to but I don't think I've had the best advice. The dermatologist to prescribe this gave me no indication of how much to use, or how often. She just told me to read the leaflet. That seems to suggest using products as per the directions on the bottles which would have me using the retin a and all the products on a daily basis, if not twice. I will start again tomorrow even if I am red and peeling. Tonight, though, I have gone back to coconut oil to give my skin a much-needed break. The wrinkles under my eyes and the tethering of the skin which is pulling is simply too scary to look at! How did people get through four months? How long will peeling and irritation last?

Hi,
Unless I missed it, which products are you using? I am not using this line, but I am in the middle of trying to do some research.

I have put some retin-a too close to my eyes and yes, I noticed that it looked a bit dried out and wrinkly. I don't believe that retin-a can age the skin, but not being diligent to moisturize and wear good coverage of high SPF ss can contribute to aging the skin faster.

You could also say the same for Clarisonic. Some complain that it made their skin dry, but in fact, it is the cleanser that is being used and pressing the brush onto the skin when that should not be done. I've learned not to use a strong cleanser (that has a lot of detergent), but I must admit that I am not good at interpreting ingredients.

Even though I have not used this line yet, peeling is normal. I had prescribed retin-a and that was part of the process and I've read that everybody goes through a different degree of the side-affects.

I would like to follow this post, because I would love to read your experience and what others have to say. At my age, I am interested in lightening up my freckles and maybe some sun spots I might have developed from being in the sun during my childhood & teens.

Be sure to check out some of the other threads on this topic so you can see what others went through. When I did Nu Derm, I peeled like crazy over a few months. The point of this program is to make you peel wildly, so your skin will have to dry out and line up before it peels. In some cases the newer protocols allow using some moisturizer under the eyes. I didn't, but felt I got great improvement in my under eye area, circles, lines, milia, the whole bit. But it took weeks and at times my skin was so painful I had to take an anti-inflammatory. I don't think you did permanent damage to your eyes with RA, so don't worry. But follow the protocol as it is set out and consult with someone if your reaction seems too extreme.

Hi, I actually used "dupes" that I purchased or made by myself for some of the products. I used the Reviva labs glycolic cleanser, since it was cheaper. If you need more info about what it is, let me know. I used that in the AM and just cetaphil in the pm. You'll need a pretty mild cleanser, since your face will be irritated.

Hi. Sorry for the delay. I'm crazy busy at work. It is the Obaji NuDerm system. I'm using the whole product line from cleansing gel through to the Tretinoin.

Well, a red sore and peeling week! I think it was good laying off for a day. I was concerned, initially, that not having so much peeling after my day off meant I had wrecked the system. Now, though, my skin is softer, still peeling but not red and irritated. I have halved the amounts that I am using of pretty much everything but using everything every day which seems to be working for me. I can face the world, albeit that I am pink and a little scaly. Nothing like The other day when I looked like a tomato.

I find the Exfoderm Forte The most irritating of the products and it stings when applied. Again though, halving the dose seems to have done the trick.

The retinol I once used definitely wrecked the area under my eyes. I'll explain more when I am on the computer and not my phone. whilst some of it may be inflammation I have seen an improvement in the under eye area in only a week! The bumps and rough texture is rapidly going away. I hope crepey skin doesn't just come back once the inflammation is gone.

It seems rather odd that the stronger tretinoin is not having a bad effect as did the retinol that I was using.

Do any of you who have used this system find that it tightened under eye skin/sag overall? That is my main concern - saggy under eye after retinol and the ensuing fallout. I had no wrinkles or sag before so I'm desperate to rectify. I've wanted to wear a bag over my head the last 9 months or so and have been anxious to have people close by and conversing with me. I've felt such a mess. I so hope this system does what it says!

Sorry. Missed the question about cleanser. I like it. I have always. I am one for wanting a squeaky clean face so don't get on with cream. The foaming gel is good but I confess I'm using a scrub too and hand mits to gently deal with flaky skin.

I mostly felt like wearing a bag over my head DURING the treatment Laughing but I did love the results. It did a lot to clear up the area under my eyes. I don't see how people do it once a year though.

How did it change your skin? I'm worried as I seem to have stopped peeling! I do exfoliate quite vigorously but is this normal after a week? I'm still pink and have slight scales if I look very closely - but it is soft skin, not dry and flaky like before now. Am I doing something wrong?

Hi,
The skin on my undereye area looked much better and thicker. discoloration barely noticeable. You'll go through a few rounds of peeling- you'll flake, peel, see improvements, and then repeat that a few times. Most people get excited when they start seeing the peeling the last time because it's the last time, just use the actives and continue to peel.
