How do I go about finding a good Dermatologist in my area? I don't know anyone who can give a recommendation.
I'm thinking about putting some filler under my eyes. Does it matter if its done by a Plastic Surgeon or Dermatologist really?
I just don't want to pick the wrong person but dont know how to go about selecting someone good.
Any tips are appreciated |

great question I am trying to do my research in Calgary as well . I figured out that in Canada the derms are not doing any pictures of their work so that makes it even more complicated:( |

Ok so flgirl private messaged me since she has reached the max posts for the day, and she currently lives in florida.
I'll post this on here anyways in case someone else needs it.
This is a site where you can search for local dermatologists:
http://www.aad.org/
This is a site for COSMETIC plastic surgeons:
(I'm not too sure if this is the right one because there is a surgeon one and a cosmetic surgeon one. These are usually grouped together in Canada, but I guess it's different in the US)
http://www.cosmeticsurgery.org/
You simply have to click "find a surgeon" and enter your zip code to find one near you.
For future reference, doctors of any kind have to register with a specific "college" or "academy" before they can practice legally, so there is usually a directory you can search for. Hope this helps! |

Try Realself! Patients go on there to rate their experiences with plastic surgeons, and if they had a good experience, they will mention the name of their doctor, with a link to his/her website provided! I usually then go to the doctor's website and look at before/afters! As for filler, SEE A PLASTIC SURGEON! Don't go to a medspa or any of those other places, you'll regret it! I don't even let nurses put filler on my face, I only trust the precision and artistry of a facial plastic surgeon. HTH! |

Oh I also forgot to mention, in addition to plastic surgeons, you can also see a dermatologist to do fillers with good result. I look for board certified derms in New Beauty magazine with good before/afters! |

Hairdressers and makeup artists see the good and the bad work and are a good reference. |

Angie's List: Do they show your real name and email address in the reviews? I'd like to write a couple for some great doctors but am hesitant to join. I like being anonymous. |

if you really need a plastic surgeon, why not try in a private hospital? Doctors are well experienced there. You can also read some medical books or beauty tips magazines for you to do it yourself and look beautiful. Sometimes, natural beauty and practices are most safe and beneficial. |

There is also a good site to find a highly-rated doc or to check reviews for a specific doctor in your area (6 countries, including Canada)
www.ratemds.com
I always check my doctors there first, and I posted my reviews too. Even though each opinion is just that - an opinion, but it is still good to know and conceder. |

FlGirl - What part of FL?
I always check the state license boards when looking for a dr. Some times you will be surprised what you will find. |

I second ratemds.com
When it comes to plastic surgeries, you always want to do research. People are more likely to post when they've had a horrible experience than good ones, so when you do see more good reviews = most likely a good Dr. Also doctors are also human...some Dr.'s are better at performing some types of procedures than other types...just like how some hair stylists understands curly hair better than the next stylist. Find out what the surgeon specializes in |
