I have been using Retin A (.05%) for over two weeks, to give me a nice glow for an important event coming up. The event is three weeks away, and I am so afraid that my face will look dry for the event. (I am willing to stop if that's what it takes to not look dry). Any recommendations? |

Retin a is not a quick fix for your skin. You most likely will not see results for six months to a year. If you've never used a retinol before, you could experience some redness and flakiness. You could use a moisturizer or oil to help combat the dryness. |

You might want to wait to start the Retin A until after your event. To get a nice glow you could try some makeup. Benefit's Girl Meets Pearl is good and has gotten rave reviews on the forum. |

Thanks, but I guess my skin might be a little unique because it has already increased my glow, but on top of that is the dryness (I'm in my mid 20's). Moisturizers really do help, but I am still having problems. How often does the dry period last? Could gradually decreasing my usage to once or twice a week help? |

I got some glow from Retin A right away too. I started out with 2x/wk, and I was most glowy the morning after applying it. So maybe you could switch (no need to do it gradually) to every other night or third night, and pay attention to when your skin looks its best relative to nights of application. It will also help with apparent dryness, which is not true dryness, but just skin running out of ceramides from the increased cell turnover triggered by RA (and pure safflower oil can help with this, because it's rich in ceramides).
Then you could plan which nights of the week to apply RA leading up to your event, and hopefully maximize your glow on the big day. Good luck! |

The Retin A dryness never really ends altho' it decreases in the summer, more humid months of the year. I'm peeling right now from applying it only 3 times in the last 8 days.
(after many many years of use.) |

Then why do people rave about Retin A so much if it keeps causing skin to peel off like that? |
