I have been using eye make-up/eye shadow for the past 5 years and I have not a problem..Few months ago I saw my eyes forming dark dry patches which makes my eyes looks old and sick.  I went to the doctor and he advised me to stop using eye make up for 2weeks along with taking some ointment medication on my eye. After then my eyes were back to normal so I tried using the same make up again, quess what? the same thing happen  . I don't get it.. why now? all of a sudden I am allergic to eye make-up which I love to use it on my eyes.. Can anyone tell me what brand to try and what is causing this? Now I go without using eye make or shadow, mascara... |

| What brand are you using, and how old is it? Possibly it is contaminated, if you had an infection of some kind it would make sense? |

Do you clean your makeup brushes every week?
I use mineral makeup eyeshadow and wash my brushes in dishsoap or antibaterial soap...and no issues there.
could it be your eye cream also?
I also can't use fragranced eye creams, they always mak my skin rough and itchy...the more expensive the eye cream the worse they are for me,lol.
Olay has a cheap eye gel, it is very plain and fine for me-don't really have any active things in it.
Nivea Aqua something for eye- also really cheap and good for me.
or else Neostrata,al their eye products are fragrance free and great for me too |

You are supposed to ditch your eye makeup after three months as it goes off very quickly.
Allergies can flare up at any time, even with something you've been using for ages. Your body can tolerate the substance for a period of time, then just says, enough is enough!!
Definitely change brand - I would try a mineral eyeshadow. |

Yeah, this is very true. Not everyone is "born" with all their allergies and can develop them quite consistently throughout their lifetime. This is just a result of our immune systems being too "bored." Definitely try a different brand and try to isolate certain ingredients that may be causing your allergy |

I've had lots of my makeup for years and have had no problems. Maybe I'm just lucky. Or immune to everything.  |

What?
I was told you could keep powder eyeshadows around 2 years and cream makeup 1 year.
I also have a makeup sanitizing spray called Beauty So clean and you can spray that on your powder or cream makeup to disinfect them.
I tried that on my cream makeup and some powder makeups and it seems fine.
But I also wash my brushes every week and often just wipe them down with alcohol when I use some darker shades as i don't want to clean my brushes 3x a week. |

| You can develop allergies as an adult. I have an adult onset peanut allergy, started when I was about 28. My mom has the same thing, she was nearly 45 when hers started, and its really very severe. It took forever for me to figure it out because I've eaten them my whole life with no issues. I'm guessing topicals are no different to the immune system. |
