Hi everyone!
I'm looking for professional skin care brands, which are suitable for sensitive skin and preservative free (dye free, fragrance free, alcohol free etc.), as natural as possible.
I've heard great reviews about Karin Herzog skin care products, but I actually don't know how suitable they are for very sensitive skins.
Are there any skin care brands formulated especially for sensitive skins? (for example, Swiss brands???)
Also, what about Bioelements?
Waiting for your reply, guys!) |

Did you mean paraben free instead?
IMHO it would be next to impossible to find a preservative free professional skincare brand. You need the preservative otherwise you risk slathering bacteria infested skincare on your face. Preservative free means the product will have a very short shelf life.
You can try DIY-ing if you really don't want preservatives. But shelf life is short so you would have to make in small batches, possibly around every week or so. |

If it is certified organic skin care you are looking for there are many links on this thread I started a while back. If by professional you mean mainstream, most organic companies aren't considered to be.

Yeah, paraben-free and preservative-free are very different. As was suggested, preservative-free products are at a very high risk of being contaminated by bacteria and fungus, and putting these products on your face would lead to disaster |

Most all Organic Skin Care products have to use some preservatives or they would go off before you even purchase, one exception I am familiar with through reading about is Lush brand which requires refrigeration. That is why you will see certified organic with 97%, 98%, ect. |

Many Lush products do use preservatives, particularly parabens, going by the ingredients listed on their website. |

Oh yeah, I knew that. I was just saying that preservative-free is bad, but I wasn't implying that organic products don't have preservatives. |

you can't have a preservative free skincare product, but you can have an artificial preservative free product! |

Preservative free skincare can be very irritative for sensitive skin. Many natural ingredients are very strong skin irritants (e.g., lemon, lavender oils).

My skin is sensitive, and KH products were giving me little red bumps all over my chin

I'm using Valmont, a high end Swiss brand, occasionally, and it never irritated my skin, not a single product. But this line is far from being natural. |

I never used them, just an assumption on my part (wrong obviously) as members who use the line mentioned the need to refrigerate. Thanks for clarifying, I should know better to assume! |

I have a natural face cream that is preserved with citric acid and sodium something....
but it is not a "professional" product- it is a cream made w aloe, jojoba, coconut oil and other things.
I never knew Lush used parabens?
then again I have never bought anything from there. |

Note though, LUSH uses parabens as the lowest ingredients. If you look at other lines its usually in the middle. The shelf life is more like a year if you dont dip your fingers in the jar and I put mine in the fridge. It was one line that did not bother my skin when I avoided parabens as much as I can. Not all the stuff they have is good for sensitive skin as there are so many essential oils in it.
But I had no problems with Celestial, Angels on Bare Skin, Ultrabland, Babyface and my skin did well on they after trying Vichy, Peau Vive, Sothy's, sensitive skin lines which I did okay with and then got burning after a few months of use. |

There's a new line of Avene's, called Tolerance Extreme, that uses high-tech anti-microbial packaging so that they could formulate the products without preservatives. I've tried the lotion cleanser and like it. |

Boscia is claiming they use no preservatives?
That line seems interesting, hoping to get some samples of it one day...
I know I have some body products and they say 100% natural and they use citric acid and rosemary extract or something like that to preserve the items.
Deep Steep has some really nice body items, also very cheap at Vitacost.
I have tried their body lotion fragrance free on my face before and it was really nice and not harsh (I just wanted a "plain" cream to use).
I usually use face stuff on my face, but think over rebuying Clinique plain lotion I would rather use Deep Steep on my face...at least it does not burn my skin like Clinique or dry my skin out. |
