You're paying more for the name & location of the spa. Not worth it. |

I am looking for a hair stylist that will give me a fresh new look. Someone who will take teh time to help me create a new look. I want my hair to be hip, shiney and lively.
Right now it looks like a dry, dull brown with drab red highlights and outdated. I usually get a cut and colour.
Any suggestions for good Sylist in Vancouver BC. I thought about going to Suki's but it's a bit far because I am 40 minutes away from the city center. |

These are some good high end salons that have good reviews.
Statik on granville
Moods Hair salon
Axis
Suki's (heard some horror stories though)
Toni&Guy
Lounge hair studio
Whatever you do, dont go to PinkLime in Yaletown. It is way overpriced, and the stylists arent too good. Also i've heard more horror stories than good |

If it's anything like the Toni & Guy salons in the UK I would recommend you stay clear of it. I've made the mistake of going to 4 or 5 T & G salons in various cities round the UK and each time it was a bad experience. They never seem to listen to what you want. I try and explain slowly and clearly what I want them to do and then they just carry on and do whatever they feel like. They seem to love putting layers in when you haven't even asked for them. |

Toni & Guy in Japan is not worth the money either. I have been to 2 of them, and both times it was a disaster. Not just layers, but "texturizing" with a razor blade starting 4 inches from my scalp. It was so bad... |

I had this done the last time I went to a T & G salon. Didn't ask for it. My hair has never been the same since that cut. The senior stylist took far too much off the length and then started hacking into it with a razor blade. Awful. |

Yep - not impressed either with T&G salons In the UK! Very 'up themselves' don't listen, patronising and do what they think is 'best'. Wouldn't go again.
Found a fab stylist in a local salon who is just brilliant - my hairs never looked so good.
Big thumbs down for T&G here. |

I know!! It was the worst! I didn't ask for it either; in fact, I told then specifically not to do it. My hair is about 2 inches from my waist, so you can imagine the damage they inflicted with the razor starting so near my head. Apparently, they always do it to Asian hair, and didn't understand that it would not work with my hair. The fact that I told them not to do it was my irrelevant, as I am not a trained professional, and couldn't see the finished look. 2 years later, it isn't too noticable, but I will never go to another T&G in, in any country. |

Same with the T&G salons in the U.S....sounds like they suck no matter where they're located! |

I have never been to T&G but a good friend of mine who has never been afraid to experiment with her hair went to T&G locally to me and was very disappointed right from the attitude of the staff to the style she came out wearing all for the modest price of an arm and a leg. So I am staying clear. |

Do I have a salon for you! I have been going to Maude Hair Salon since it opened in January. Bridgette is awesome! And let me tell you something: I have crazy hair. Fine textured, but it's thick, there's a lot of it, it's flat on top, but absolute ringlets of curls in the back. I have white blonde highlights, and to find someone who does great color is a life-saver. Maude is located in Kitsilano, on West 4th Ave, between Arbutus & Maple, south side of the street. Hip salon, great girls, and a very resonable price for the effort that goes into my hair. For a full head of highlights, cut, blow-dry, and tip, I pay about $150.00.
I used to go to Ion salon (also Kits, Broadway/Larch). Pamela is very talented, but I really didn't like the atmosphere of the salon. I believe Pamela is moving to Twizzle on West 4th. Ironically, she used to work for Toni & Guy in the UK. |

well i cancelled my appt. at toni&guy
I hear the staff are so snobby and if they dont get at least a 15% tip they give attitude. I'd rather go somewhere that is not so stuck up |

Really & truly, I strongly suggest that you at least go to Maude for a consultation with Bridgette. She's fantastic, extremely talented, and a very nice young woman.
Maude Salon is located at 2072 West 4th (at Maple), and the number is (604)730-9933. Remember: Bridgette. Tell her Kate sent you. |

So...it sounds like snootiness and pretentiousness are universal characteristics/qualifications for T&G stylists???
Good luck at your hair appointment, BCGirl – here’s hoping you come out of Bridgette’s chair looking fab-u-lous!! |

Whoa.... I love Toni and Guy!!!! I bleach my hair blonde and NO salon could get it right. They all turned it orangey. Someone recommend I go to TIGI.. I've been going there for the past two years. Love it! Maybe it's just a local thing.. but they are all awesome around here. They do exactly what I want, how I want it.. |

I too got a horror story haircut from T&G (in Vancouver). Gave me an bob on top and undercut on the bottom, barely had enough hair left on top to cover the bottom.....not very flattering!!!
I have had more bad experiences than good Haven't had a haircut in a least 6 months cause I am too scared to go anywhere. |
