Seriously, why don't more companies manufacture eye product with SPF protection?

This eye cream isn't a replacement for other eye treatments because it's not quite moisturizing enough for my personal needs. Right after cleansing, I apply a small drop of meadow foam seed oil around eyes followed up by an anti-aging eye serum by Janson Beckett.

After sunscreen on face and primer have been applied, gently pat one small dot--(think of short grain rice!)under eye and over the lid. Be careful not to use too much or it will ball up under eye primer and eyeshadows. I consider this as the final step of skincare routine prior to makeup application.

This tube is pricey but considering how little you'll use, it will last a long time. Have been using this daily for over 1 month; it's likely this tube will last for 6.

Murad also has an eye cream with SPF 15. I also agree it's a good idea to use some sort of sunscreen under your eyes. If I had done this earlier in my life, maybe I wouldn't be dealing with the extent of under eye wrinkles that I have now! Confused

Sun glasses can make a difference too!

Why can we not use a regular face sunscreen under the eyes?

The Clarins website says it is 100% mineral but does not disclose all the ingredients.

Hi RussianSunshine,
I'm sure that you can. I just want something that adds a little "treatment" to my eye area too!

I can use facial sunscreen under eyes, but have experienced irritation when formula applied to eyelids runs into my eyes. Clarins Eye Contour is much thicker and stays put.

Grr... I hate it when ingredients aren't posted online, so I looked at the box this came in. Typing ingredients below, scuse in advance for any typos. Smile

Active Ingredient: 8.1% Titanium Dioxide

Inactive Ingredients: Water- cyclopentasiloxane- aluminum starch octenyl- succinate-polyglyceryl-3polydimethylsiloxethyl dimethicone- propylene glycol- butylene glycol- aluminum hydroxide-stearic acid- sodium chloride- peg/ppg-20/15 dimethicone-peg/ppg-18/18 dimethicone - caprylyl glycol- tocopheryl acetate- ethylparaben - disodium edta - methylparaben - mannitol - glycerin - rosa centifolia flower extract - clyclodextrin - pisum sativum (pea) extract - cassia alata leaf extract - platanus occidentalis bark extract - olea europea (olive) leaf extract - yeast extract - dextrin - hydrolyzed adansonia digitata extract.

I KNEW there was a reason to save all the boxes product comes in!

Laughing

athena123, thank you. It probably took you forever to type this long list of different silicones. At least there is no fragrance in this cream.

You're welcome RussianSunshine! Yes, a lot of silicones but the prospect of silicones in hair and skin products no longer bothers me as it once did. It's my understanding that most silica components are inert; non-reactive and provide the cosmetic elegance non-silicone based formulas often lack.

The one thing I'm not sure about yet is how well this will hold up in high temperatures. Within a couple months, I'll be in a better position to provide an update to this effect.

I used this some years ago when I felt like I wanted a separate sunscreen designed for the eyes. my eyes were also more sensitive back then. The clarins one has a high spf for an eye sunscreen, and i used it exactly as that--sunscreen. It definitely isn't an eye cream like athena mentioned.

Nowadays, I just use my regular sunscreen around the eyes (unless i am using devita's --the fumes from devita do irritate my eyes).

If you're looking for an eye sunscreen, the clarins one is quite good.
