Is it possible to cure tear troughs in a natural way by changing your diet or so? By gaining fat maybe, because they form due to loss of fat under eye and above the cheek?
What could be the cause of these for a person younger than 20? Allergies? |

No, unfortunately you can't choose where you lose or gain fat.
TT's can sometimes happen if you lose alot of weight in an unhealthy fashion but it's mostly just genetic. I've always has bad TT's. |

Isn't 20 to young for fillers?
You could try adding a vit c serum (l ascorbic acid)- supposed to amp up the collagen. |

The only thing I've found to deal with the dreaded TT's aside from filler or surgery is the Easy Eye Solutions Instant Eye Tuck, it has been the only daily "thing" besides retin-a that I've stuck with for the last few years and haven't changed....
..And I do believe that both have improved them greatly. The tuck of course, makes me look as though I don't have an "issue" while it's on.. ![Laughing](images/smiles/lol.gif) |

bren - are you saying that easy eye filled in your tear troughs? Ive used easy eye on and off and not noticed a great change, mainly because I dont have eye bags, but a TT problem.. |

I don't have an eye bag problem either and use the tuck solely for the purpose of sucking up my trough. It works great at making my under eye area look flat as a pancake and would never leave home without it.
With the extended use of the tuck I would say that my troughs have improved and become smaller/flatter for sure. |

if you're eyes are hollowing out at a young age I've read before it could be thyroid related as in 'Hypothyroid'-any issues there or with your metabolism/weight/mood?
otherwise I suppose could be congenital. If so the only option I know of are fillers or fat transfer. I was actually told today by an top Dr. specializing in injectibles that Perlane works very nicely in that area and can last up to a year. I know Fat transfer/grafting works very well there too but again you're looking at 1-2 years for the results since it's unpredictable.
if only these darn procedures would last longer!!
From a health perspective I would recommend drinking lots of water, avoiding sugars i.e. sweets, alcohol, high carb foods like wheat and getting exercise to keep up the circulation.Perhaps the Vaculifter would help thicken the skin via suction? Could check the (lengthy) thread here on that?
If dark circles are an issue due to the thinner skin I find taking Vit C internally and applying Castor oil there at bedtime can perform a minor miracle there. ![Smile](images/smiles/smile.gif) |

Wow - this sounds good, an excuse for me to use up the easy eye stuff I have left..
Bren, where exactly do you apply it and only in the morning or night too? Do you apply lots or little? Sorry for qs, but Im going to try your method and see what it does for my hollows.. |

I only apply in the AM after putting on all my makeup and only the smallest amount possible with a small flat makeup brush.
I find more is not better with this stuff and I can usually get it to barely any white residue. I apply along my trough and then feather it out with the brush (towards my nose and towards my eye) then I use a hairdryer on the lowest heat setting to set it all up in about 30 seconds. I can still feel it firming up though for long afterwards....about 30 mins to an hour.
I wear it every day and have been for a few years now. I tell ya, it's the one miracle product besides retin-a (and now Obagi) that have been a godsend for me.
I buy it only in the sample size (for $37ish) at NCN Pro Skincare, Nanci's website...I find the sample bottle dispenses easier for me than the pump bottle and I can easily dispense a small amount. The sample size lasts me several months and it's less of a hit on the pocket book too! |

No prob! Stick with it daily and you will see some sort of improvement in a few months I'm sure, even without having the tuck on. By the way, I only use the tuck, I used the illuminating cream for about a week or 2 in the beginning and stopped using it...didn't like it all that much.
There are others on the board that noticed an improvement in their under-eye areas with the prolonged use of the tuck over in the Easy Eye discussion...I do believe Toby was one of them if I remember correctly...bless her soul for being the one to turn me on (and many others) to the tuck!
Good going on buying the sample tuck! I think it dispenses much better than that darn pump...I always pumped out way too much and wasted a lot with it. |

I have had a prominent tear trough all my life. Im now 32 and it seems to have got deeper lately (my latest area to obsess on!)
I dont really believe that any creams etc offer any real solution.....possibly with the exception of retin a and vitamin k.
The idea of a filler sounds good.....although i keep hearing disaster stories from people doing this.
Im a naturally thin person and from looking around it seems to me that thinner people are more prone to this area looking worse than people who carry more weight..... but maybe im wrong.
It would be good to hear from anybody who has gained weight and their tear troughs have improved or anybody who has fillers put in the tear trough without problems : ) |

Jedder, the "I got juvederm "voluma" yesterday!!" thread has some discussion on fillers for tear troughs/eye hollows with many sharing their experiences plus a couple of comments from barefootgirl and fairlady on eye troughs & fillers here: http://www.essentialdayspa.com/forum/viewthread.php?tid=39716 and here: http://www.essentialdayspa.com/forum/viewthread.php?p=6397021#6397021 .
Also, lagomorph mentioned on the Dermaroller roller thread here that dermarolling helped her tear troughs. Here is a shorter thread with more comments on rolling the eye area: http://www.essentialdayspa.com/forum/viewthread.php?tid=37085 .
There are also comments in the Tear Trough Help Please thread from members who found that facial exercises and massage helped to reduce their tear troughs plus this one from SeanySeanUK on page 24 of the Carole Maggio Facercise thread (plus posts before & after sean's post).
There is also this thread from Bira on avocado oil and tear troughs: http://www.essentialdayspa.com/forum/viewthread.php?p=479392
I'm sure others will pop in with more suggestions and/or experiences. ![Smile](images/smiles/smile.gif) |

I'm not sure if dermarolling in the eye area is very safe, especially on such delicate skin on the tear trough. Try Kiehl's avocado eye treatment.. many of my friends use it and they are in love with it
You could also try putting an icepack on your eyes in the morning when you wake up to try and decrease the puffiness |

Unfortunately, no. Depressed/indented TTs can simply be due to bone structure, natural genetic predisposition. I know b/c I have them. Looking back at a pic of myself when I was 23 I was surprised at how prominent they were. I got filler by the time I was 29. It lasts a full year at least, and with the help of a retinoid cream, I seem to be getting more firmness there. HA filler can actually stimulate your body to produce it's own natural collagen again, so perhaps the filler has helped on that front as well b/c it seems I need less of it each year to get good results. |

I don't think people are too young for anything anymore. If you think your eye bags need some filling, then better get on that ![Confused](images/smiles/confused.gif) |

I also have tear troughs. They go from the inner corner of my eye and down across my cheek. They must be genetic because I've had them since I was like 12!
Now im 24, and Im really sick of them! I went too the doctor today and she suggested juvederm or radiesse, but radiesse may be too "hard" and so juvederm is the better choice. It only lasts a year, which is dispaointing considering its 550$!
I have another appointment in 2 weeks and considering now if I should go through with it. I think they are so deep at this point fillers are the only way to acheive a real change.
anyone use juvederm? |

I've had problems with tear troughs since I was a little girl as well and now that I'm older (in my thirties), they are so much more prominent... I'm considering fat grafting, which I don't know much about, or surgery... I'm going in for a consultation in 2 weeks! |

Radiesse is good only if deeply injected. I'm a bit afraid to have that done so close to my eye unless it's by a doctor who specializes in eyelids and not just a dermatologist. |

Does the EasyEye Solutions fill in the tear troughs if you have hollows? thats my main issue that I'd love to solve!
