Ok, so a local plastic surgeon had a monthly special of 4 Palomar skin tightening treatments and an IPL. Just what I was looking for. Had my first treatment last Thursday. The face is numbed for 30 min before the treatment started. A section by section area is done because the numbness wears off quickly. Three passes is done in each area. By the third pass, you feel the heat going into the skin. For me the forehead was the worse. It left some swelling and a heat filled face. The air conditioning sure felt good driving home! I go back the last of June for the second treatment. It does leave your face a bit dry. Mine is never dry, but I do have flaking and that rough feeling. Will post again after the second. |

Hi Leathal,
Will the skin peel from this type of laser? And what type of issues does it address? Thanks so much. I find with so many different types of lasers, that I get confused as to what each one is supposed to do. |

Hi Kims,
With this type of laser it does it's dirty work under the skin. It blasts the collegen to make it tighten and rebuilds. So there is a healing process under the skin not on top like the CO2. The CO2 takes the top layer of skin and is a nasty heal. I have had it done before. The Palomar is a unit that can hold different laser hand pieces that addresses resurfacing, the fractional/tightening, hair removal and IPL for sun spots. From what I can tell from researching, it does a very good job. The girl told me that even after the 4th treatment collegen continues to build for 9 months. |

Thanks, Leathal. You'll have to give us a comparison of the CO2 vs Palomar when you get finished with all of your treatments.
How do these treatments compare in cost? |

For the 4 fractional and 1 IPL the special was 1995.00, regular 3000.00. I felt this was a good price. CO2 was between 3 & 5000. It's been a while since I had that. I'll say one thing, I sure don't miss getting up every 3 hours cleaning my face and re applying the ointment! |

Thanks for the input! I'll have to check around my area and see what's being offered. |

Me too Bermie!
It has been a week tomorrow. Most of the redness and flaking is done. I have noticed smaller pores and the skin looks brighter. I go back Junes 28th. Was suppose to be the 30th, but a jury duty letter for the 30th. |

Had my second treatment last Tuesday. We noticed some of the lines around the mouth were gone and the crepy skin by the nose to mouth lines wre softened quite a bit.
They tried a new numbing cream with several *cains, which didn't do as well as the lidacain used the first time. I told her we would go back to the first cream next time. That was ouchie this time!
My face didn't swell as much this time and doesn't seem to be as red today compared to the first time. However, to the touch, in some places still has a little sting assuming the nerves endings are healing. Skin looks a lot brighter and I also noticed that the forehead lines ae almost gone.
So far I am very pleased. I know this is an on going process and if the results keep coming, I'll be jumping out of my skin
I have two more of these and then an IPL. |

Did you take before and after photos? I'd be interested in how long the results last. |

They did. I am going to have them printed off when I am done. I was told the collegen will continue to build 9 months after the last treatment. |

Your welcome!
Today was my third treatment. She had a note on my chart to take pics, but someone else numbed my face and didn't know what the note meant.
I did not swell as much this time, probably about the same as the second treatment. The sunburn feeling lasted for about 3 hours. I just used the ice packs they gave me and the air conditioner in the car on the way home felt great.
After the treatment she had my chart open and was comparing them to what my face looked like now. We noticed the cheek area had changed alot. Texture was greatly improved. Forehead lines were basically gone. The crepy look by the nose to mouth lines were almost all gone. The line between my eyebrows was very improved. Lines around the mouth have really softened.
She wants to take pics before the next treatment, which is in 4 weeks. So I am taking some photo paper to print them off. Then I will try and post a couple. After the 4th treatment I will have an IPL also. |

Had my 4th Palomar treatment today. They couldn't believe how good my skin looked. Not as much swelling this time. I do have a few pics before the first time and before this time, and i think my face is shiny on the first ones because of the numbing cream.
I am going to try to get them scanned tomorrow, then I will post them. I still have to do the IPL, and she said that it would really make a big difference after having the Palomar done. |

These aren't really good, she printed them on copy paper and I even took photo paper. This is the progression from the before through the 3rd treatment. I just had the 4th and am scheduled for an IPL[img]

Hi there, thanks for sharing!
I am trying to understand the progression of pictures - particularly the last two on the bottom. Were those taken before all the treatments started - or one at the beginning and one now?
Do you mind just clarifying which are befores and which are afters?
Thanks, bfg |

bfg...The first set are the before any treatments. The second set are after the third treatment. I just had the fourth treatment and will be having an IPL. These aren't the best quality of pictures...lol |

The bottom lefthand photo is quite remarcable - is it a mirror image of the photo on the right or just the other side of the face (confused?).
I think before and afters are easier to discern when the same amount of lighting, makeup and hair styles are used in both sets of photos.
Good luck to you - please keep coming back and showing us your progress!
