I recently started taking multi vitamins and notice my nails grow much faster and do not break easily ie become hard instead of brittle. this happens whenever i start multi vitamins. My question is - does that mean my body needs extra vitamins, am I not getting enough in my daily diet, as without the vitamins my nails break v easily, and never get long for sure! just curious. |

I can only speak for myself, my nails and hair grow too fast for my liking with or without supplements so maybe my diet is giving me what my body needs. I do eat a very healthy balanced diet. |

maybe its the biotin in the vitamins thats helping. I may invest in some - I need it for my hair, not too fussed about the nails which is a nice bonus. |

Its not just about the beauty aspects though..when people take Super Collagen their hair and nails grow fast but also bones grow stronger in a few weeks. That's a health benefit. |

I also noticed increased nail growth when taking Biotin. I no longer take it anymore though.
I do think that getting enough vitamins helps with nail growth. |

I've heard that as well. I've always wondered why, though? |

I am not sure about the why, but did learn that in Cosmetology school, and have since read the same many places! |

I have always had a problem with soft, brittle nails. I started taking Vitamin E and that helped my nails along with my hair. I have not been told by any doctor that I have a Vitamin E deficiency so I do not know for sure. I used to take Biotin for a long time too which worked but for some reason the Vitamin E worked better for me. |

I've been taking NOW Foods Silica for a couple of weeks and I've noticed my nails have been growing faster and they are less likely to chip or peel... |

Maybe you had a vitamin E deficiency of which you were unaware. |
