I ran across this line in some of my reading:
Quote: |
Syneron Medical Ltd. (Nasdaq: ELOS), an innovator in the development, marketing and sales of elos™ combined-energy medical aesthetic devices, won first place in Cosmetics & Toiletries (C&T) magazine's 5th International Technology Award presented at the In-Cosmetic show in Paris, France. This prestigious award recognized the launch of Syneron's elure™ Advanced Dermal Whitening product and its significance within the cosmetic R&D industry.
The elure™ Advanced Dermal Whitening product line is the first scientifically proven enzymatic skin whitening treatment that utilizes a unique scientific discovery of a naturally occurring bio-active substance called Melanozyme™. Melanozyme acts to immediately target and disintegrate the melanin to diminish dark colored pigment in the skin safely, with virtually no side effects. Unlike many other whitening products on the market, the elure product line does not contain Hydroquinone, which has been reported to cause side effects such as skin redness and burning sensations. In addition, while other skin whitening products inhibit the formation of melanin, elure acts to target and disintegrate melanin resulting in a much faster whitening effect. elure™ Advanced Dermal Whitening was introduced in November 2009 at the world renowned cosmetic show in Asia, Cosmoprof Hong Kong. The "TRY IT ON THE SPOT" campaign captivated the audience as they observed first hand the dramatic effect of elure on melanin. Once elure was applied, the melanin decomposed "on the spot". |
Even though they have a website at http://www.elureskin.com with a contact email for North America, I don't think they're selling it here yet. I believe they're only offering it in Asia at this time. I could be wrong and I've sent them an email inquiring where it can be purchased but haven't heard back. Just wondering the prices of the products and whether it works as well as indicated in the article. |

From the first abstract on the list,

Lignin peroxidase, a safe & unique enzyme for use as a topical cosmetic treatment for lightening skin
The enzyme lignin peroxidase (LIP) is derived from the fungus Phanerochaete chrysosporium. The fungus is fermented under controlled sterility conditions to yield the purified active LIP enzyme. This proprietary production process of lignin peroxidase, trademarked Melanozyme™ by Syneron, is formulated into both a lotion and a cream to treat patients who desire skin lightening. After final formulation and packaging, the product will be sold as elure™. Each packaging unit (whether cream or lotion) will contain an Active Melanozyme component and a proprietary Bio-Activator. The combination of the two formulations creates a temporary reaction that results in a targeted and time-limited catalysis of eu-melanin in the epidermis. The appearance of the skin for most patients will become noticeably lighter within 7 days. To characterize the safety and tolerability of lignin peroxidase as a cosmetic product, the following safety tests have been performed: • Acute Dermal Toxicity • Mutagenesis • Eye irritation • Primary skin irritation • Primary sensitive skin irritation • Cumulative skin irritation From the results of the above tests, we can conclude that the LIP enzyme formulated into a cosmetic product will not induce primary skin irritation, cumulative irritation or allergy nor eye irritation beyond what is usual for cosmetic products. LIP enzyme provides a unique, innovative approach to skin lightening, eliminating the melanin in the upper layers of the epidermis. The enzyme is safe and effective. |

If and when Elure becomes available in the us, what's the cost? Reading what was posted about the product I believe you would need to use on a continual basis to maintain the lightening, it only works on the epidermis?

This sounds rather interesting. I'm in Hong Kong and haven't seen Elure on sale anywhere, but then I wasn't looking, as never heard of it before until I saw this thread.
Had a quick look at the website and don't see any retailers listed (Asia or elsewhere). Perhaps it's not being sold anywhere yet ?? However their HK office is rather conveniently located for me, so I may just sneak into the building in the next few days and check it out ... |

LOL. appletini,
Is there a phone number or email contact on their site? They might not like you "sneaking" in. I agree it looks interesting and possibly gentler than many lightening products!
Keep us posted if you find out anything please. |

If this really works, I could cough up the $150 for the lotion. I can't wait to hear some reviews on it. |
