I have been thinking mabey I should start a spa with my 20 000 it's not much, but I have the resources to buy the best beauty products at wholesale since I have a family member that is a plastic surgeon and my parents both have business licenses. I'm also pretty knowledgeable about the beauty industry. How would I get this all going? Is this a good idea? |

maybe you can start out at home first. Do facials etc. at home, you can put adds in the newspaper |

Daniel7654,
I think a spa would be a great investment/career opportunity. You might even consider one that targets the male population, like this one: http://www.americanmale.com/.
BTW,

Just curious, Daniel, have you had any plastic surgery done? I guess it would be free, so why not?! Also, did you make your $20,000 from modeling? I'm very impressed with someone so young being so successful! Well, I guess I'm really wondering if you were BORN gorgeous, or if you had a "little help" like so many other gorgeous models. (I hope I didn't offend you by this question--I see absolutely NOTHING wrong with plastic surgery, in fact, I would do it if I had the money. I'm just curious about/fascinated with the lives of "beautiful people".) |

The AmericanMale one would be funny, since I live in Canada, we would get egged haha. No, I have had no surgery, just braces when I was smaller. That is a good idea to start from home! |

How about starting a chain like The American Male Salon in Canada? Here's the equivalent in Canada: http://www.themenspowerspa.com/. Or are Canadian men more opposed to that type of thing than American men?
About the plastic surgery--you are very fortunate/blessed that you were born with the looks of a model! BTW--I'll take some of that "free" plastic surgery that you're not using. (Just kidding!) |

It could be a good (and fun) investment, particularly since you clearly have an interest in the area and also have some contacts. I think the suggestion of starting out small and doing facials from home etc is a great one! Just like many famous designers started out small and built up their reputation that way. Also, make sure that your local area is not saturated with spas already. They would have their loyal customer base and it might be difficult to tap into that market. |

Thanks for sharing and I also agree with the fact that starting a spa would be great. Spas and massage popular are in high demand this days and its gonna really work for you as well. |
