I know some of you have discussed this sometime before but I have yet another UTI and some of you mentioned taking D-Mannose. How much should I take and how often.
I am sooo tired of these infections and our DRS are very resistent to giving any antibiotics (I know thats probably a good thing), but when you are miserable and sore you kind of cant think of anything else Crying or Very sad
Thank you

Make sure you and whoever you have sex with wash scrupulously beforehand.

Otherwise, drink lots of water, juice, tea, etc. That flushes out any bacteria. I drink nearly a gallon of liquids per day.

I am drinking lots now,
I ordered some d-mannose, apparently Ecoli bacteria love the stuff and if you take enough then you can flush it out.

Well with all the fluids Im drinking its worth a try!

I was going to suggest the same^^ thing. UTI occurs when bacteria from your anal region is transferred usually by friction to the opening of your urethra where it enters it. Even a wedgie or wearing a thong can cause it. So getting into the habit of giving yourself a wipe down before sex--if not taking a full shower--and having your partner clean up too may change things around. Also after a bowel movement ALWAYS use wet wipes (unscented please!) to ensure a nice clean anal region. These simple regimens may mean you will never have issues with UTIs again.

As for remedies, I highly recommend Cystex. It's an over-the-counter painkiller that makes going easy. As you probably know, the more you go, the quicker you will recover because you flush out the bacteria when you pee a lot. The problem comes in that while there's an urge to go--as your body tries to rid itself of the "baddies"--the burn you feel makes your body hold back thus worsening the situation. So this painkiller is a huge help. What's more, drinking baking soda in water every hour can further make peeing easier and thus help you flush the buggers out faster.

You see, while the acidity of the pee is good, it is also caustic to an infected urethra and that burn makes it hard to go. By neutralizing it, you make your pee less acidic so that it's easier to go. I hope you do know that it's best to sit longer after you go and wait for the next wave of pee...even when it hurts. Because the longer pee stays in you, the more the bacteria continues to fester. You'll find if you take this solution, you'll be able to pee more and thus get over the UTI quicker.

Ahh yes, sounds familiar....when I was younger. Had the same problem over and over and over. The urologist said to abstain from sexual activity, continue with the penicillans or antibiotics all the way through, even if you think you are well, continue with the course of treatment until all pills are DONE until you are completely well. Thats no burning, no itching; until you are completely well. And drink LOTS of water.

On top of all the sound advice above I would like to add to wear cotton panties and change 3 times a day. No panty liners, no nylon, and sleep without. My daughter takes cranberry extract when she feels a UTI coming up, and it helps to flush out the bug. Acidity may hurt but it is helpful in this situation, as well as taking extra vit C can help you get over the infection sooner.
Oh and shower, don´t bathe. Good luck, hope you´ll be OK soon!

1/2 teaspoon baking soda with 10oz water. It worked for me, my co-workers and daughter.
