Hi.. I have posted here before with great success in having my questions/issues answered about my skin, so I was hoping to save some time searching for a product.

I have very oily, acne-prone skin and my pores clog almost immediately after having cleaned them out. (Btw, the advice I received before about taking apple cider supplements is helping with oil control a lot along with Kate Somerville's The 9! kit).

I have used the Clarisonic in the past, and I loved the very clean feeling I experienced from it. However, after using it for a week or so, it seemed as if the brush head collected bacteria and broke my skin out pretty bad.

I cleaned & replaced the brush head often with the same results. What I am looking for is a device similiar to the Clarisonic that I could attach some sort of pad that I could use my own cleanser with. I would want to replace the pad every day so there is no chance of bacteria build-up. I have seen the Neutrogena Wave, and the Clean & Clear morning burst device, but those pads already have cleanser presoaked into them.

Any help would be appreciated!!

I have a Clarisonic Mia that I've stopped using but before I bought it, I tried out the Neutrogena Wave. I did not use the Neutrogena pad that came with it because I too wanted to use my own cleanser. I just stuck a circle shaped cotton pad on the Wave. The Wave has a velcro-like texture and it latches on to the cotton. This way, you could use a new cotton pad each time along w/ your own cleanser.

However, I must say that there was a world of difference between the Clarisonic and the Wave. The Clarisonic cleaned more thoroughly IMO and stimulates the skin very nicely. The Wave was not as thorough.

What are you cleaning the brush head with after you use it? Clarisonic suggests you wash with an antibacterial soap, throw in washing machine or soak in Marvicide (or whatever the stuff that can disinfect plastic)for 10 mins.

Appearing to break out may not be simply down to the Clarisonic brush harbouring bacteria. You may have been pressing too hard/ using the product for too long and breached the skin's natural barrier, the acid mantle. Alternatively your skin may have been reacting to a new cleanser or residues of whatever you were using to clean the heads.

Neutrogena wave is completely useless. It doesn't help at all.

Try a microfibre cloth and gently wash your face with it up to two times a day. This pretty much gives thes ame effect as the Clarisonic. Just know that some people just can't tolerate physical exfoliation, so it might be better o just avoid it completely

I have very problem skin, cystic acne since age 12 and have tried all kinds of prescription, OTC and salon treatments. The Clarisonic Mia has really helped but I had to take it slow. There are different brushes, so you may want to go to the sensitive or delicate brush heads and build up to the regular or deep pore cleansing. I started off using it twice weekly at night and now have built up to using it twice daily with the regular brush. I am looking forward to trying the deep cleansing brush. My dark spots from old acne are fading now that my serums can actually penetrate the skin. I advise being ver cautsious, only use the Mia for the 60 seconds it is programmed for. HTH Smile

I love, love, love the Olay Cleansing System Brush not to thrilled with the cleanser that comes with it though as if you used it every night you wouldn't be left with any skin left lol.

I purchased the Olay brush for the sole reason that it rotates rather than vibrates to me it just sounds like it would make for a better cleanse.

The Pretrika Sonic Brush is also supposed to be great and is reviewed on The Truth in Aging. I haven't tried this brush but Marta highly recommends it.
