Had two small moles removed about a month ago on my face and was using PCA Skin Soothing Balm up to now.

Curious going forward if Mederma is the best thing to use to help it heal the best it can or any other general moisturizer?

Is it best to massage the area or will that cause irritation?

Mederma is useless IME. I think the healing will be the same if you use it not.

Massage is good because it prevents hard scar tissue. Silicone sheets work well to ensure they stay flat.

It really depends on what kind of scar you have- they are not all created equal. Ice pick, boxcar, keloid... etc. They require different treatments. All supposedly benefit from daily massage to break up the collagen, but all mine scarred anyway and I've had to use other methods to repair them.

If you are trying to heal a mole removal, my doctor told me to use polysporin triple action.

My mole removal in that area is now flat, but the doctor did warn me it could be ice pick, etc., or grow back. I was prepared for it. I simply wanted my mole removed.

If we are talking about acne scars, I find that Juice Beauty Green Apple peel worked well for that and I just read a thread on Tamanu oil. That look good also.

I nailed my acne/chicken pox boxcar scars with a dermaroller and CPs, worked well, actually better than I ever expected. Never tried a true icepick scar.

When someone finds something that takes care of keloids, let me know!! I have a super thin raised scar on my chin, you'd miss it if you weren't looking for it, but still, it'd be nice to have it gone.

Thankfully I don't get many zits anymore, but I do get the odd one on my chest and my dark/olive skin scars whether I touch them or not.

Does anyone know what I can do while its still a zit (& purple) to lessen the stress on the skin and help the healing along so that there's less hyperpigmentation? Could the apple peel, polysporin or Tamanu oil be applied at this point and be effective? I'm guessing cp's come later as well. And I think massage well after its dried up is far too long after the damage is done in my circumstances.

I think after the zit is gone I'm stuck with the mark for too long a time no matter what I do. I've got one right by my cleavage which is SUCH a bummer!

So general facial moisturizer best? I have been using PCA Skin Soothing Balm twice per day.

A friend of mine has been using arcs oil for scars on her knees and says they are much better. I use it on my face and it has really improved my skin. It contains argan and cactus seed oil, both are supposed to be good for cell renewal and scars. I would definitely recommend it for the face, my skin looks really good now. I do get some occasional spots but i don't get any scarring anymore. It is the best skincare product I have used in a while.
You could also try rosa mosqueta oil but I think argan is supposed to be better than that.

I just noticed this thread. I had a keloid on my chest wall smack-dab in the middle for the last year. Seems I had an oil cyst or something form that would not go away and when it finally did, I was left with a keloid or scar, not sure which, the size of half a small pea.

Since I wear a lot of V-neck tops, it was really discouraging seeing it there and it would not go away no matter what I did.

I tried tea-tree oil, mandelic acid peels, retin-a, salicylic acid, etc. Most would dry it out but when the dry skin peeled off, I still was left with the scar.

I had some CP Serum from Skin Biology which I use on my face a few times a week. Anyway, I decided to try it straight on the scar tissue. Everynight I use my Clarisonic on it, dry it, apply the CP Serum and then place a small piece of the plastic end of a bandage over it since I knew covering it would help soften but did not want to invest in Silicone sheets.

I also repeat the same in the morning. Fast forward 3 weeks and I can barely see it. The skin is smooth, the color is almost even with the surrounding skin tone and the depth has been reduced to almost flat. I suspect I only have a few weeks to go. I'll report back if and or when it's completely gone. If it never gets any better, I am okay with it now. I think keeping it covered plays a very important role as well as the CP Serum.
