I have had this patch of eczema that cannot be quenched for the longest time. I put all creams and oils (jojoba, cocoa) on and used medication (Tiamol, Hydrocortisone). It stays as a dry hard, dark, bumpy patch. I sometimes have these dark hard bumps on the collarbone. Has anyone had this problem? Any solutions or suggestions? |

KP is usually on the upper arms and thighs. Have these patches been diagnosed as atopic eczema by a medical professional? Have you tried eradicating known skin irritants from your hair and body care routines? Could your diet be deficient in essential fatty acids or another micro-nutrient? |

I think you need to get a doctor to take a look at it and then address the problem. |

Hi!
What is your diet like? Are you getting enough essential fatty acids, especially long chain omega-3s from oily fish? 2g per day of combined DHA & EPA makes a noticeable difference to my KP within a few weeks. Other healthy fats come from nuts, seeds, avocados, olive oil.
As far as topical skincare, try avoiding sulphate surfactants as these are very drying, exfoliate gently and use a body lotion containing urea or lactic acid (these ingredients hydrate AND exfoliate). This only works for me on top of the healthy eating tho. |

If you are referring to Keratosis Pilaris (KP), there is an informative article on the topic here:
http://emedicine.medscape.com/article/1070651-overview
It includes treatments/management and medications (if necessary). According to this article, KP has no known dietary associations. HTH |

Thanks for posting that link. Checking the reference list there are no nutrition research papers, so I wonder if that statement is a default setting? In the same article the author writes
"Although no clear etiology has been defined, keratosis pilaris is often described in association with other dry skin conditions such as ichthyosis vulgaris, xerosis, and, less commonly, with atopic dermatitis, including conditions of asthma and allergies.[1] ... Obesity has been implicated in a wide spectrum of dermatologic diseases, including keratosis pilaris.[4]"
Several of these conditions are known to be treatable with diet modification, so it seems strange to completely ignore dietetics. |

Eczema is slightly occurs more common in girls than in boys. Eczema mostly causes dry and reddened of skin that itches or burns, so Avoid eating fruits like papayas, oranges & etc they indicates eczema. |

I would recommend going to the doctor and if he suggests it a dermatoligtist only because you dont want to misdiagnose it, treat it like it's one skin disorder only to find it's another and be out of pocet with both expenses and time. |

I consulted a doctor a while back when I had a form of eczema from swimming. The doctor gave me cortisone cream and it completely eradicated the problem. I would suggest that you see a doctor first to diagnose your problem correctly. Don't assume anything by putting creams that you don't know will help. Get professional help. You won't regre it. Also, self-medicating is not a good idea if you don't know the symptons or why it is causing it.
