I have had good success with my 12.5% TCA peels, I've gotten up to 4 layers and done very well.
I was thinking of moving up to 15 or 18, but am slightly concerned of risking hyper-pigmentation at a higher strength.
I know clinically, professional layer Jessner's solution under a lower strength TCA to get the benefits of a higher acid without the risks...
But when I asked about it to customer service at MUAC, they said they didn't recommend it for home because they had some cutomers get burned that way. I thought that was odd because a) their TCA peels are already mixed peels and b) I thought it was supposed to be less risky! Maybe the customers in question used too high of a TCA percentage?
Anyways, I was thinking instead of moving up to 18%, just get 15 or even stay with my 12.5 and layer the Jessner's solution underneath.
Has anyone done this at home or had this done with a low percentage TCA in-office so they can comment on how it compares to a TCA only peel. |

At home peels are not less risky and you can do damage to your skin with them. IMO professionally done peels still carry a risk also. |

Why not move up to 15 or 18 percent TCA and do two layers.... I'd think four layers of 12 percent would almost eq ual an 18 percent. Wouldn't it? |

If a professional was telling me that mixing or layering two peels was something needing more skill than DIY to prevent burns, I would be taking their advice.
Sure, Jessner may be a mild peel but you're talking about combining it with something else as well. Ever heard of chemical reactions? That's when two substances mixed together end up having a different result than each would if they were used standalone.
It's your face and skin, whatever happens to it you will have to live with forever. Maybe it's just me but I wouldn't be playing around with that especially when I've received advise to the contrary from someone with more knowledge and experience than me. |

15 days ago I did a layer of Jessner and 2 layers of TCA 18% (from MUAC) on my forehead. I only had fine lines, but today when my esteticien saw me (first time after my peel) she was amazed (and asked the name of my derm hehe) She deals with victims of burnings (from peels, laser) everyday. She told me that most doctors dont care enough and some burn their pacients ,others dont say they need to use SS and stay out of the sun.
I only did my peel after asking all sort of details to 2 of my friends that used combo peels and high % of TCA several times . Her pictures are at the MUAC site.
Do your homework because a peel is a controlled burning. |

I think it's ideal to have the professional treatment and then do it yourself at least this way you can ask any questions you might need cleared up by a profession and you can use the same routine they did in the clinic at home. |

How about trying a Jessners peel on it's own? It's only one application of product and you get to see if it works for you? I did one at home last night. |
