Hi
Has anyone had success with non surgical treatments like thermage, ipl, skin tightening, skin laser (nor laser resurfacing as to harsh for me) dermarolling or any others like this that can help to soften crows feet and smokers lines above the lip. I am trying to find out on the internet what type of treatment like these really do help to reduce these lines in these tlwo areas. i really would appreciate to here any news on these and others like this |

i have read also about aesthera laser treatment for wrinkles though i have read a few times that microdermabrasion or peel would give better results than laser treatments |

I cant comment on the lasers but wanted to say that microdermabrasion doesn't effect wrinkles. It really doesn't do much IMO. It can be nice to "freshen up" your skin but thats about all. You may get some results from an aggressive peel like TCA. |

Hi Long Chan
Thank you for the reply. Yes i keep seachng over and over onthe internet. Im looking for something that i can do as a treatment for my skin which might give it a kick start. Im not expecting anything (unless a complete facelift which i cant afford lol) to take away the crows feet under eye crepiness or lip lines around my mouth but just to soften them would be a good thing for me. im just so so lost with it all |

I have had more success with at home devices but have gone for quite a few different treatments.
Refirme: Did absolutely nothing for me.
Microdermabrasion: Great for smoothing out the skin and getting rid of blemishes.
IPL photo rejuvenation: Great for evening out the skin tone.
Botox and Dysport: Works to give the upper eye area a bit of a lift but not dramatic enough.
Carboxytherapy: Still to early to see results.
Professional LED treatment: Not that different to the lightstim.
I prefer at home treatments but am always up to trying new things that aren't too pricey. |

I am interested in the derma roller thing but is it suitable for everyone ?
I'm also confused at what you actally need I looked on ebay for one but they suggested that you need other things like numbing gel, cleaning fluid, special cream for afterwards etc what exactly would you need to have to start and what size roller/needles is best for the face? |

It is suitable for allot of different skin types and tones, darker tones have trouble with pigmentation issues when having light based treatments but since the Dermaroller dosent use light it dosent carry these sorts of issues. Of course the length of needles are based on what your treating.
I personally use Dettol cleanser, a ummmm male sexual enhancer (it contains 10% lidocaine which is far more than any numbing gel does) for numbing purposes, and a serum that contains actives that will enhance collagen production. Expect to pay around $50.00 for all these products and remember these products will be used time and time again rather than just a one off. I use Dermarollers that cost under $10.00 on ebay |

I find the Dettol cleanser to be a little bit drying so only use it before doing dermarolling treatments do you find its a bit like that also?
I own two a 0.25nm one for product penetration (I use this every second night) and a 1.5nm for collagen induction (help with fine lines etc). I use both on my face. I'm also going to purchase a 2nm when i finally get around to it |

:oops:Sorry I didn't mean the skin cleanser,I hadn't seen that before, In the U.K dettol is a household antibacterial product,I thought you meant to clean the roller with but now I say it sounds really stupid. I had never thought of using one for product penetration think I will get the 2 sizes you suggested, thanks

In Australia its a house cleaning brand but they also sell some personal care as well you can get a Dettol cleanser which is really good for its antibacterial properties. Its funny you say that actually because I have never used the cleaning product for my roller, i'll give it a shot. Yes though, both rollers are really useful. |

Hi, I'm new and I've been reading and learning a lot since finding out about EDS.
I had a Thermage treatment almost 2 months ago and I started taking anti-oxidants such as Resveratrol, CoQ10, Vitamins C, E and Green Tea Tablets. Thanks to the info I picked up on EDS, I bought a DPL Nuve LED light (mine was $200 w/ 2 lights, red & purple but they can be bought for less) 3 weeks after my Thermage. About 1 wk ago I added Angellifts (plastic strips you stick in your mouth to smooth out wrinkles) and I've been using them while I use my LED, moisturizing with Jason's Tea Time Cream and my skin is really responding very well.
Prior to this, my face was becoming very jowly, I had a lot of brown spots (fading) and mouth wrinkles and I just looked tired, old and getting older.
I have a Dermawand (high frequency current) and FaceMaster (Suzanne Somer's gadget) and neither has made such a distinct difference as the DPL. (I really wish I would have tried it before the Thermage and saved a lot of money). |

It sounds like you have had a real mini makeover, what results have you had?
I used the Facemaster (which provided me with some results) for a short time but found other EMS devices to provide better results. |

P.S. I also want to add that if you purchase an LED light from one of the Shopping Channels--QVC or ShopNBC they have an "extended return policy" for the holidays, until Jan 31. (I think QVC has a 60 day return policy always in place for the LightStim). Plus the "value" / "easy" pays on your credit card, makes it rather low-risk. You can try it out without fully committing.
After forking over $179 for my (useless) FaceMaster, I am ONLY going to buy face gadgets on those terms. |

I personally have noticed that people treat me a lot nicer, probably because I don't look so angry, old and tired. I seem more "approachable" I guess.
I'm 53 and the marionette lines are disappearing as well as the wrinkles in the corners of my mouth and above my lips. My jaw line is also more refined. And due to my yo-yo dieting I had that "waggle" under my chin that is really firming up. With the use of my LED the sleep wrinkles under my left eye are diminishing and my skin looks plumper on my chin (another problem area as I age).
So much of how you feel about yourself as a woman is tied up in your appearance. I've discovered that as my looks improve, I feel better physically.(And the Green Tea Tabs have helped kick up my metabolism a little, stabilizing my weight).
Whatever anyone choses to use, I think using oral supplements as well as topical will really kick up the results. |

It sounds like you are very happy with your results, which can be great for the self esteem, and is always a very good thing as it helps validate the down time associated with such procedures. I personally love the new Radio Frequency based treatments that you can get as they seem to be great at firming the skin up, in fact something that actually does what it says it will do. How long have you been using the LED device for? |

could you tell me where you got this numbing cream? I am looking for one stronger than the 5% lidocaine I have |

It's called Dumont, it's a male sex enhancing spray but it really numbs the area and it's also a spray. |

I started dermarolling *yesterday*, not on my face, but on a bad surgical scar on my forearm. Really i just wanted to test out the device to see what would happen. My scar is over 12 years old and substantial.
Today was the second treatment with just rolling the 1.5 dermaroller over the scar. I cleaned it off with witch hazel before and after, then after rolling/wiping off with witch hazel I smeared on Skin Actives Anti-Aging cream.
Truly, I must photograph what is happening, my scar is smoother and less puffy, it is changing in just these 2 small tries of rolling. I really cannot believe it, and wonder if I'm seeing things. So tomorrow I will photograph it before and after, to make a log.
The roller seems aggressive, it leaves my arm really red. I cannot imagine doing this on my face, but that's what I bought it for. Maybe I will try it softer pressure later on. First I'm really into this arm scar!
The next post down gives the link for my Dr. Roller knock off that I bought and feel very pleased with. I think it's the same device, without the label.
Best to all!! |
