My primary complaint about my 57 yr old skin is hyperpigmentation. I have very fair (Celtic) skin and have always tried to take good care of my skin and avoid the sun. I have always been good about wearing SPF but until recently I was not applying it correctly; in previous years I was using chemical sunscreen (Anthelios, La Roche Posay, etc.) but applying it AFTER my antioxidant serum and moisturizer. I thought I was protecting my skin but over the years my spots just continued to darken. About a year ago I learned how chemical sunscreens work and decided to switch to physical sunblocks (love Josie Maran 40 SPF!!!). I am very happy with the change and my overall my skin looks better--doesn't seem to react to incidental sun exposure with redness and stinging the way it used to but I can't seem to fade the hyperpigmention. I have tried Skinceuticals, Vivite, Skinactives, IPL. Suggestions?? Thanks everyone. |

Ellatu, the quickest and possibly cheapest remedy long term is laser treatment. The $300 I spent on that was one of the best buys I have made in beauty. If you are on groupon or similar, deals come up, too.
In addition, astaxanthin is wonderful for fading spots and preventing new ones. |

Gotta love Groupon and the one year of unlimited hair removal for $99.00 was the deal that won me over
Now for skin pigmentation you should go the AHA route before getting a laser treatment, only because there is some down time associated with it, where as there isnt with AHA based products. Also you can use the AHA products in the comfort of your own home. |

What do you mean? I always apply it straight from the bottle. |

Sorry, I saw OP said they weren't using sunscreen properly. I had to go back and re-read their post. |

Hi 7Destiny
Can you tell me more about this? Are you talking about astaxanthin being used internally or topically? And if topically, is there a particular product you are referring to? Thanks in advance. |

So far only laser works for me but I am interested in trying some peels as they seem to work too. |

When you apply your sunscreen, you have to wait at least 30minutes before exposure. Also note that you need to get a higher SPF to protect your skin. Also, to get rid of dark pigmentation, you have to buy Obagi products, which can help you diminish those dark pigmentation. However, once you start using this product, you must use this religiously (forever).. You can buy this at EDS here.....
Good product!!!!
