Ultrasound for droopy eyelids?

If it REALLY works, I think I would give my right arm to have it done. Nothing else has helped my droopy lids to date and they are really aging me more than anything else on my face Sad

A quicker fix might be to have filler injected above the brow or on the brow bone. I'd go for a consultation with an oculoplastic surgeon. That way, if it didn't work you can use the consultation fee toward the cost of your surgery.

I have been reading some good things about Ultheraphy but it will only provide a small improvement if it works for you. So depending on much lifting you need it may be worth going for a consult if you really want to avoid the surgical route.

Get the surgery! It's one of the "simplest" procedures that you can get and recovery time is not long. It made a huge difference for me.

What is the ballpark cost of the surgery? And did they just do your extra skin over the eyes, or lift your forehead?

I'm in Australia and I had an upper and lower bleph - I had nothing done to my forehead. I think the cost was about $7,000 but it was worth every penny. My upper eyelids drooped over my eyelashes - they actually felt heavy and uncomfortable. I used to walk around with my eyebrows raised to relieve the "pressure". Plus everyone was always asking me if I was tired.

The surgery is actually a very simple procedure. If you just want your upper lids done, I think that this can be done with just a local anesthetic - which will lessen the cost allot. Go and have some consultations and suss the whole thing out. You will never get the same results with anything non-invasive. I had put off getting this done for years - was apprehensive about it. But afterwards I thought, "Why didn't I do this sooner?"

I guarantee your cash is better spent on a surgical procedure than on Ultherapy. My sister had it done last year and it was a complete waste of money. One of her biggest gripes was droopy upper lids and at the tune of a couple grand, that's a lot to be forking over to get not even a hint of improvement (and she had 2 rounds of it)...it's not even worth a couple grand to get a "hint" of improvement in my book. If I'm paying that much, I want to see noticeable improvement.

I have to do a bit of an eye roll when I read reviews on sites like RealSelf about this procedure...people popping out glowing reviews only being a week out of the procedure. Ultherapy doesn't work instantaneously, it takes months to build that collagen (when it works right) and what these people are reviewing on is lifting and plumping due to post procedure inflammation which is gone a few weeks later.

I hope this isn't a silly question, but they they just 'trim' off the excess skin about the eye? And is there a scar left?

Yes, there is a scar, but they do the cut in the crease of your eyelid so it's not noticeable. But mine have disappeared now anyway.

I don't have time now - but tomorrow I will post my before and after photos.

When I actually put the two passport photos side by side I was amazed at the difference too! If you could see the photos in their entirety, I definitely look younger in the after pic.

Regarding the cost: I'm in Australia, and we pay much more for cosmetic procedures than other countries. I think the US is much cheaper.

Keliu, although I can't see the rest of your face I'd say your eye and surrounding area looks UH-MAZING for 60! I would only hope mine looks that good in 20.
And in regards to price you pay for cosmetic procedures in Australia...I was just there for 3 weeks in April/May and I have to say compared to the US, you guys pay more for a lot of things! Shock

But, my trip was worth every penny...had a fabulous time, beautiful country and I feel very fortunate to have had the opportunity to travel there. I'd go back in a heartbeat...although 15 hours of air travel just from LA is a wee bit hellish Laughing

...and might I also add that trip is what spurred me to finally quit smoking. At $20 US a pack, I would have gone broke on that daily habit in Australia....so didn't smoke while I was down there and didn't pick it back up when I got back. It was the perfect opportunity Very Happy

Thanks Bren - actually, I'm nearly 62 now - very scary!!!

I was recently in Europe and found prices there to be more reasonable than here. Australia is getting so expensive, it's ridiculous. On a current affairs TV show recently they revealed that in Australia we pay twice what Americans do for Ikea furniture. And I'm glad I don't smoke anymore - the cost is insane. Plus they don't let you smoke anywhere anyway!

Glad you enjoyed your trip though - and that you managed to quite smoking. Did you make it up to Queensland? I live in Surfers Paradise.

I'd say you're looking mighty fine for almost 62! The age thingy kinda creeps up on you...I am still wondering how the hell I will be 41 in a few weeks Laughing

I was in Switzerland and Spain last year and the prices there were still a bit higher than the US but not really bad like Australia. I couldn't believe some of the prices you guys pay down there! And I had a bit of difficulty with grocery shopping and items sold by weight...haha. Oh, and I was almost ran over quite a few times while crossing the street due to looking the wrong way. My friend in Australia nearly had a heart attack. Hard habit to break Embarassed

I spent my 3 weeks in Sydney, Central Coast and Adelaide. Unfortunately I didn't get to Queensland...I hear it's gorgeous over that way, my brother-in-law spent time there and he loved it. I wish we had your weather! Laughing

hahahah...Good suggestion!
Better than seeing a cosmetic surgeon.
But good eye surgery docs are very hard to find...and very long waitlists too.

Some do have free consultation though (or at least I did Wink
