The most usual methods are to boost your immune system, that is: lots of vitamin C, echinacea, make sure you sleep enough and drink enough. You could help things along a bit by steaming with a little (very little!) tea trea oil in boiling water. For my children I used to make what we called 'sniffing balls' - a cotton ball with a few drops of essential oils on it (lavender, eucalyptus, tea trea, rosemary) wrapped in a bit of cheese cloth. Just sniff it every now and then, keep it in plastic wrap in between. This will help open up your airways and breathe more easily, and the oils in themselves have an antiviral action. It may help you tomorrow at work to get through the day. HTH! |

Just today I read that Vitamin D is very important to prevent a cold. Usually it's produced by your body automatically from sunshine. But you should eat stuff that contains a lot of Vitamin D (like oily fish and cheese) or take Vitamin D supplements. |
