I feel like I missed "how to be a girl class" sometimes.
I have really sensitive skin, fair, tends to be dry, not a whole lot of acne any more (I'm 25) but some blackheads and my skin tone has been really uneven since I got pregnant (I'm due in March ) I also tend to get red easily.
I am outdoors a ton, ride horses and I want my skin to look good when I am old, recently started using more sunscreen. On a daily basis currently just wash with mild soap and use almond oil before bed, are there products out there which would be better, I get intimidated to try stuff since a lot irritates my skin and I would hate to spend a bunch of money on something that turns me red.
I stopped by Sephora and the girl recommended Boscia, I've also heard good things about Korres and Dr. Hauschka.
Any recommendations?
Thanks! |

Ummm... Right now some stuff from Bert's bees, I only wear it when I am outside a lot since it is very heavy. |

Traditional soaps are highly alkaline, they destroy the skin's protective acid mantle. Do you know the pH of the product you currently use?
Oils are emollient/ occlusive but they do not actually hydrate the skin, you might consider a product which also contains a humectant. I really like emulsifying aloe vera gel in the hand with a plant oil - aloe has hydrating, healing, and anti-ageing properties. Alternatively you might consider one of Weleda's creams: all natural, short ingredients lists and based on sweet almond oil. Some of the baby calendula range also includes lanolin which is helpful for weather protection. Again calendula has healing and anti-ageing properties.
Are you taking in sufficient healthy fats for both you and the baby, particularly long chain omega-3s? Marine algae if you are wary of oily fish. These help the skin maintain hydration, are anti-inflammatory and calm inappropriate immune responses (some topical allergies and dermatitis conditions). |
