I was examining my skin closely and I noticed that there are some holes like craters in my face? They're not very big but Im worried because they make my skin texture look rough. I think I got those holes from previous acne. Please help. What can I do to make my skin surface smooth again?

It's sounds very serious, take a look at how doctors say. And ask whether the skin-care products to help? |

Keep doing moisturing mask and stop exfoliating treatment that will make your face have bigger pores. |

Is it pores or acne scars? If it's pores, don't strip your skin with harsh treatments that will cause a rebound oil problem. |

Faeriedust,
Do you think you can post a picture? That will really help to recommend something. |

The holes arent super huge like craters. Some look like a tiny punctures in the skin or some are wider than that. On the skin surface, you cant tell that I have holes but my skin surface isnt smooth and looks rough. I only realised I had the holes when I really looked at my face closely and sideways and not straight ahead.
Are these ice pick scars? I read online that these scars are:
Atrophic scarring, which results in a loss of tissue. This type of scarring is much more common than hypertrophic scarring. There are several types:
Atrophic macules. These are small, bluish-whitish skin colorations, and are usually less visible than other types of scarring.
Depressed fibrotic scars. These are large, depressed valleys on the surface of the skin. They are usually jagged.
Follicular macular atrophy, or perifollicular elastolysis. This consists in small, slightly raised lesions, similar in appearance to whiteheads.
Ice. These less severe versions of depressed fibrotic scars.
Soft scars. These are gentle, scar-like depressions in the skin. They are usually small, and either circular or linear

Mine sounds similiar to the soft scars. I dont know how to treat them? I've been using vitamin e though |

Go check it out at Sephora. He has an entire line for pores. I'm going back up to get some of the clensing products for pores. This "vacuum" for pores.
I've spent $50 on Cle de Peau and I thought THAT was a miracle product. Nothing like this stuff. Plus the lines no more.
The Crease Release is a cumulative thing so I gotta wait awhile to really review that.
But thinkin this line is gonna be really something. |

I think these sound like pores that are "empty" of blackheads. Like if you push on the skin of your nose, those holes/pores look deeper right? I think I have the same thing ever since the Clarisonic eliminated my blackhead problems. I think blackheads "filled" the pores and made the surface smooth, so when they're empty, each more is actually more noticable becuase there's a little depression that makes the surface less smooth. I'd also like to find a way to fix it, I'm not too excited to fill the holes back up with a primer product.. |

Ai Fatswan I know what you mean. I have those on the side of my nose. From my overzealous squeezing days. I used Clinique pore minimizor (forget the name but don't love it anyway) but I don't love using just a cosmetic solution. I want to solve it! I was thinking dermarolling would help or possibly Retin-A. I've looked into lasers but the results can be dubious. Let me know if you find anything. I'll keep you posted as well. |

They sound like pitholes. From previous comedones (blackheads, pimples). And also aggravated by ageing changes which makes the skin less elastic and therefore they are becoming more obvious with the years. You need to wear a good sunblock to prevent the sun's rays from further damaging the collagen in your skin. Dermarolling and retinoids (such as Avene's Diacneal, retin A, etc) can help but you also need some measure of prevention to arrest their progression. The effect of lasers tends to be temporary. They give the impression of filling up the holes due to injury in the skin caused by laser leading to swelling in the deeper layers of the skin. But when the swelling dies down, the pits will be obvious again. And you will have to go for regular maintenance to get the same result. All costing thousands of dollars. |

Hi Callalily, I've been using Tazorac for 2 years and it does squat for the pitholes. I've heard it's supposed to be stronger than Retin A, so it's unlikely that would be of much help either.. I'm considering DR, but first I need to finish reading that MONSTER thread! Let me know if you decide to try it! |
