Is it ok to make vitamin C serum by taking the powder from ascorbic acid pills and mixing it with distilled water? Is the powder any different than the kind you buy by itself? I did that and I'm just wondering if it's going to be effective or not. |

That is no advisable: tablets contain fillers and other additives - bulking agents, binders, preservatives, colours, flavours, etc. You are best using pure cosmetic/ pharmacy grade L-ascorbic acid powder. |

The fillers often are not soluble in water, where the vit. C is.So you'd have to wash the C out of the filler, and then filter it. Look up the ingredients of the pill to see if there isn't anything in it that could irritate your skin, and how soluble it is. |

Ah, so that's why the powder didn't seem to dissolve completely! The only other ingredients are rose hips and magnesium stearate so I thought it would be ok. I know what to do now, thanks. |
