Hi Everyone,

I'm new to this forum and have been doing a lot of research on skincare gadgets. I'm 37, starting to see the signs of aging a bit. I've been battling this mainly with facials, creams (Retin A, Skinceuticals CF, good eye creams, sunscreen, etc). I recently saw an ad for the Palovia and decided to give it a try. I got it in yesterday and tried it on my forearm this morning before going to work. That was about 6 hours ago, and the two spots I tried it on (one high, one low) are still red and continue to feel like a slight burn. This makes me VERY nervous about using it on my face for 30 days straight.

I started reading more about the Tripollar STOP and it seems that this may be a "less invasive" option. I don't have wrinkles at all around my eyes when I'm not smiling. I have had the annoying "crow's feet" look when smiling since my early twenties though. They've always bothered me,so I'd like to get some opinions on the best route to take. I've also noticed lately the "11's" becoming more noticeable throughout the day as well as the NL folds on some days.

Any advice is appreciated!!

I strongly recommended the Tripollar STOP havent had the chance to use the Palovia though.

The STOP will help with the issues you have described. Maybe give the Palovia a short go though as you already have it anyway.

The STOP is very noninvasive all you will have is some redness right after treatment that should only last about an hour.

Thanks echo for the response. I think I'm going to do just that. I tried the Palovia out last night for the first time on low. Did about 10 "stamps" total - 5 around each eye. There was some redness for a few hours, but nothing crazy. This morning there's just some slight swelling, but nothing more than what it would look like if I didn't get enough sleep. I'll do another treatment tonight and see how it goes!!

I'm planning to take it slow with the Palovia and maybe try out STOP in a few months. If I start to see some of the side effects that others have posted, I probably won't continue with it. I work and am around people all day, every day. I really don't want to be worried about the looks and questions. Rolling Eyes

I do think that would be the best route to go and just assess your results after the initial treatment period. If it works for you stick with it and keep it as your soul tool of rejuevenation but if it dosent move on to the Tripollar STOP.

Even if you do get results with the Palovia you might like to give the STOP a try still just make sure to leave a good while between the devices. Tripollar STOP say it's okay to use the STOP with other devices but there is nothing good about continuous inflammation and can in fact accelerate the aging process.

Keep us updated Smile

Hi jennoskcaj

I suggest you read the STOP thread before deciding. Echoecho is very young (only 25) so her results will have been enhanced by the fact that she still has good collagen in her skin. I myself DO like my STOP, but at 47 I can definately say it has not provided me with any miracles. I see it more as a (hopefully) preventative measure that a cure. It has not removed any wrinkles or reversed any sagging (and I'm on my 3rd cycle now). It does, however, provide me with a temporary freshness for about a day after using it. This freshness seems a little perkier now than it did during my first cycle, when my face actually looked a little tired afterwards. You can read my comments about my usage on the STOP thread. I also suggest looking for the posters age wherever possible to gauge how the gadget worked for those in your age group (i.e. views of young people with resilient skin, or much older people with deeper issues to address, while interesting, may not be relevant to your own issues).

I will be buying the SQOOM next month, if that doesn't do anything weeeellll... then I guess I'll start contemplating botox. Perhaps. I'm not really keen to go down that path, though.

Good luck!

Thanks Karenlee...the more I read, the more confused I get about what to try for my skin. Confused

Tonight will be my third treatment with the Palovia. I think I'm going to keep it on low for now since I have to go to work in the morning and I'm afraid of having marks on my skin. So far, the redness has been gone in the morning, but I'm noticing tiny, tiny brown dots where I did the treatment. Nothing noticable, I think it's the sking drying a bit.

I'll keep reading about STOP (and all these other devices that I never knew existed) and try to figure out if it would be a good choice for me after I've completed the 30 days with Palovia.

Hi jennoskcaj

Yes, it is confusing. In fact, the only thing I believe will help (other than surgery) is in fact face exercise - even though I don't do any! I did buy the Ageless program, but I'm just not consistent enough in my approach - I have a full time job, and I'm studying part time as well so sometimes I just want 'time off' from obligations - and that's usually when my skincare routines crash.

It makes sense to me, though, that if you exercise your underlying structure, it will address the issues of sag - as well as wrinkles to a degree as muscle will create a smooth base for skin to stretch over? (I've seen how my body has changed and firmed from using weights in the gym.)

I believe there are two issues to address - skin surface quality (creams and serums) and muscle laxity (face exercises or gadgets).

I've been told I have nice skin (I use Retin-A and various quality topicals), BUT I still have ageing, e.g. sagging around the jowls etc which I'm holding at bay by using Tua Trend etc, but I think I'm going to need to start face exercises when my study course is finished.

Hi karenlee, How many months did you wait between Stop cycles? According to info on the Stop thread, you should wait six months. I just finished my first cycle. I am only going to use it twice a month during the maintenance mode. Thanks.

Just a quick update so far with the Palovia. I've used it every night except once since starting and I've increased the level to medium for the last few nights (I believe I'm on day 6 now). So far, there's just mild redness and a little bit of swelling in the morning. Nothing too dramatic though. I know it's just from the swelling, but it has definitely lessened the "smiling" crow's feet I see right now. I'm eager to see what the effects will be at the end of the 30-day cycle. Very Happy

packratmack, I'm not sure. I never did any maintenance - I sent the unit to my sister so she could use it. She sent it back after her cycle, and I didn't use it for a bit, so it's been a few months, maybe three, four?

jennoskcaj - how many times are you supposed to use it? Does it hurt? I had a Tria hair removal device, but sold it because I couldn't bear the discomfort - didn't really feel like pain after a long day in the office!

karenlee - You're supposed to use it every night for 30 nights then go down to 2-3 times a week for maintenance. I've skipped two nights so far just to give my skin a break. There really hasn't been much redness the next day to speak of. I've been using it on medium power, about 6-7 "zaps" around each eye. As for the pain, it's not bad at all. A little stinging while I'm doing it and some slight burning for a few hours afterwards (like a moderate sunburn feel), nothing too dramatic. I've been following each treatment up immediately with a Skinceuticals calming product (I can't remember the name of it now, but it's the green liquid).

I'm still not sure of the results, so I can't speak to that yet. There's still the look of improvement from the "swelling" I guess. When I smile, there are only a couple of lines, where before there was about 6 or so for each eye area.

A quick update on the Palovia. I'm not impressed at all with the results of this. I used it consistently for about 5 weeks. I see no real difference at all in the eye area. Sad
