Hello all
I am looking for the the best sunscreen to use with obagi. I have on both of my cheeks from last 6 years. I have used la Roche posay, neutrogena, sofina , obagi 35, and zo skin health in the past and got new pigmentation. I don't if they are appearing cause of hormone internal thing or lack of sunscreen ' performance. Currently using burnout sunscreen all three version I think I still got new pigmentation while I was using these. Can please anyone recommend good sunscreen . Please share ur experience with sunscreen if anyone had success keeping theire melasma faded and not getting new spot while using subscreen. |

Wow, it looks like you have used and are using a good quality sunscreen. I used Dr. Lewinn's sunscreen when I was on Obagi. It is definitely not the most cosmetically elegant sunscreen but it worked for me. I had no luck with the European sunscreens and tanned through all of them. One question, are you applying a good 1/4 tsp of sunscreen to your face? Also, are you wearing a hat when out in the sun? |

Thank you so much for responding. Yes I do apply 1/4 tsp maybe more but don't wear hat. I need ur opinion on zo skin health sunscreen . Did you get freckles while using that sunscreen or it has protected you well. I have one bottle left . Currently using burnout was thinking to use zo skin health sunscreen on the top. Will this give me more protection or reduce burnout protection. I want to use zo sunscreen on top so that I can have nice finish and add more protection. Any suggestion. Thank you |

Yes, hazelwood, unfortunately, I did get some freckling with the ZO Sunscreen. I honestly am not knowledgeable enough to know what happens when you apply 1 sunscreen on top of another. I don't know if you would necessarily get more protection or not, but with both of the sunscreens being physical, I personally don't see a problem with applying the ZO on top to give you the finish you are looking for. During the summer, I will use a powder sunscreen on top of a liquid one, so I am guessing that would be a similar concept?
Which burnout are you using? The first one I tried, I didn't care for at all (can't even remember now which version it was). However, I purchased the Burnout Ocean Tested, and have been using that one without problems and my face remains pigment free. I found Revision sunscreen, which I am loving, and I use that on school days, and Burnout on days when I am home. However, I never had luck with a chemical sunscreen with Obagi. I would definitely recommend wearing a hat or visor when out in the sun. It will help. |

Has anyone tried and had success with the Obagi Sun Shield SPF 50? It's only been out about a year I think, has great reviews and has won a couple of awards. |

I haven't heard anything about the Obagi Sun Shield SPF 50 but I have heard good reviews about the Obagi-C System Sunguard SPF30. I'll have to look into the Sun Shield for my father. He's notorious for neglecting sun protection and on most days comes in purple and pained. @hazelwood160 - EDS carries Revision Skincare Intellishade SPF 45 Original Anti-aging Tinted Moisturizer and Revision SkinCare Multi-Protection SPF 50. Are either of those the products you are looking for? |

Hi tefla,
I recently switched to the Obagi SPF 50. Like it so much better than the Obagi 35. The 35 would go on nice but then ball up, stick to any dry skin, (I'm doing Obagi Nu-derm so lots of that) tend to dry out and then would look a complete mess if I put any foundation on top. So far the 50 goes on very smooth, like a creamy moisturizer. It does not ball up and seems to soak in. Can't really tell that I'm wearing sunscreen. Foundation goes on smooth. Like it so much better!! |

Hi cat2fat
Thank you so much for your review.
I'm running out of the usual La Roche Posay SPF 50 that I use and like but I'm interested to try Obagi Sun Shield especially as it's supposed to be non- whitening. At the moment, though, I'm so red on Week 6 of Nuderm, that the bit of whitening in my current SPF is quite handy! |
