I have here EVOO, grapeseed oil, Rosehip seed oil and sweet almond oil.

I've been using grapeseed oil which seems to really help my undereye area and has gotten rid of a lot of the milia. I picked up the sweet almond and rosehip. The sweet almond because I read that it makes the skin "satiny" and the rosehip seed because I read that it was good for mature skin. I just don't know how to (ratios) mix them. I'd rather have one product I can use all over my face including undereye for simplicity sake.

TIA!

Hi Lorraineg57 if the grapeseed oil is working on its own, is there any reason you want to try something else? I think we sometimes create problems by wanting to try everything people say is good. Personally I'd say, if it isn't broken, don't fix it. In other words, if I were you I'd keep using what I know works and only look for something else if it stops working or causes me issue. Less is usually more.

I believe someone questioned my using the grapeseed oil in general saying it's usually astringent and wondered why I was using it on my dryish skin...hence the "hmmm....maybe I need to change this." Smile

It seems counter intuitive, but after having a very long talk with my sister, who is a chemist, she broke it down most simply: Like disolves like. And some oils can literally strip your face of your natural oils making your skin freakishly dry. Castor Oil is one, for example, you would never use it straight. You would end up drying your skin out, causing it to over produce. This is seemingly one of the ways the phenomenom of flaky, itchy, yet oily skin comes about. It's a vicious cycle.

I have a wonderful cleansing oil that was gifted to me slated for normal/dry skin. It's specifically for the OCM, but I often use it for moisture. It's AWESOME... a wee spendy, but you could play with the ingredients if you want to whip up something for yourself... Lots of oil suggestions within their list.

Furthermore:

Ever wonder why some of your lip balms you just can't go without? They moisten the lips, and then it wears off and your lips feel like their gonna start bleeding... CASTER OIL... generally first 2-3 ingredients.

Talk about CREATING a market for a product.

Keep in mind that the skin around the eye is much different than anywhere else. I can only use castor oil at 10-15% in my ocm recipe - any more and I get severe flakey patches. But I can use it full strength on my eyes with no trouble whatsoever. It works great for conditioning my lashes (my main reason for using it) and leaves my skin perfectly happy.
People also say the same thing about retin-A - problems with irritation on cheeks etc, but none whatsoever on the eyes. Something about lack of pores? I don't know - I thought Noney had said something about this at one point?

And about an ocm recipe - I don't think anyone can tell you what proportions are best to use. Everyone figures their own personal recipe out by experimentation. That's why I try to make things less complicated by starting out with just the small amount of castor and only 1 or maybe 2 oils.
