Has anyone experienced breakouts from taking biotin? I'm currently only taking 1000mcg a day and I experienced several breakouts. I've read elsewhere that this was a common reaction, but I'm wondering if anyone on here experienced the same thing. Quite a shame though, as I am taking it for its energy benefits too, not just skin, hair and nail benefits. |

IMO if you are experiencing side effects the dose is too high for you.

This was my first thought too (like Firefox) that the dosage is too high, but it can also be the particular biotin supplement your taking has other ingredients in it which don't agree with your body too. For example often with vitamins they're combined with ingredients to help their absorption, and no two products are identical so it may just be that your unlucky in the current one your taking. |

I had this problem when I first started taking Biotin a few months ago and mine are only 300mcg
What I did was cut the frequency back so I only took the tablet once every 3-4 days or so until my skin settled down then slowly increased it back up - now I take 2 tablets a day and my hair is growing a lot faster
The breakouts are because Biotin kills off candida - so you're having a candida die-off phase which is a GREAT thing I actually had quite a few cystic eruptions which is not usual for me when I first started on the Biotin and I saw this as a blessing in disguise as I realised my body was just purging out some nasty stuff. |

Can you please supply a reference to that effect? |
