Hi i have recently bought a dermastamp off amazon to help with a big trama scar on my forehead i got 3 months ago. Thing is since it has arrived it has been sat on the side because im concerned about the hygiene aspects. It is in a sealed packet..but what does that mean? It doesnt guarantee it is free of disease and i dont know where it was made although from a uk seller. My question is..will dettol kill all germs i know poeple say read all the reviews but im more confused than ever. Can u catch aids and hepitius off these tools or am i being just a teeny bit panicky. I have never used one before and really want to help my indented scar to heal. I was going to use it with my environ avst1 cream. Its 1.5 mm...any advice will be gratefully received! X |

I am concerned you have not undertaken thorough research before making this purchase. It would make most sense to contact the company which sold this to you to get their advice on sterilising and what the sealed packaging denotes.
You cannot use just anything to sterilise your dermastamp as it can melt the glue or otherwise damage the product. Some brands will not stand up to repeat use or sterilisation and are made for single use only - again check this with the seller. There is loads of information on microneedling at owndoc.com. Do bear in mind her articles relate to the products she sells, which are quality tested in house.
By AIDS I assume you mean the HIV virus? You can only catch this and viral hepatitis by very close contact with an infected individual, generally sharing needles or intercourse. Viruses do not generally survive out of the body for more than a few minutes; some bacteria are spore formers and can survive months or years. I can't see any reason why any blood or blood products would be on your dermastamp??
If your scar is still in the remodelling stage, microneedling *may* not be the best option. Have you checked with your dermatologist or family doctor what they recommend? What is in that cream, is it something that is safe to be 'injected' under the skin as opposed to applied topically to unbroken skin? Does it contain anything with anti-inflammatory properties, known irritants or acids?
