So I've been struggling to find the solution to my very active body and facial skin right now. Since going off birth control, I've had a battle on my hands. I am on a very strict diet, and lead a generally healthy life.
I've had minimal success with a few topicals, but nothing seemed to really make a lasting impact in getting rid of them, after over 7 months. Topicals just do not get to the root of the matter, although I know they certainly help keep things clean, and I wouldn't do without them!!
Then I went to my Naturopath and was given some powerful supplements that are kicking my body back to where it's supposed to be. Namely cod liver oil, a liver support supplement, and a fantastic (and expensive) probiotic.
As I've seen these marked improvements in just a week (yay!!), and am awaiting the results of my saliva hormone test, I was wondering if anyone has found a good moisturizer for the body (oily skin), that won't clog up the pores, and help soften the skin as the acne heals? |

What about shea-aloe? You can whip it up yourself from unrefined shea butter and a decent organic aloe gel. Both elements are healing, shea is also rich in stearic acid, a long chain saturated fatty acid that is too large to clog pores and is naturally found in the skin barrier. I would suggest avoiding any oils which are rich in oleic acid, it has been implicated in comedone formation and acne.
Be sure not to use anything containing sulphate surfactants on your body, or other known irritants. Are you taking cos liver oil for vitamins A and D? Presumably you are using another source of long chain omega-3s and the omega-6 GLA? Probiotics help with this (in addition to their other benefits) but generally more is required.
Have you considered an LED light device? |
