I recently ordered 2 of these from PSF from EDS. I tried it last night and I don't see what they hype is?? It's true that it didn't hurt or it's not harsh at all when rubbing the face with it, but I don't really see the difference on the skin when using a cotton face cloth and this microfiber cloth.
So is it just me or the PSF cloth is not good enough? ... ![Confused](images/smiles/confused.gif) |

Trust me when I tell you there is a difference...I actually took a whole layer of skin off my face on several occasions because I wasn't gentle enough.
I have a Jane Iredale Magic Mitt, and also a microfiber covered sponge from Thankyou Stan on ebay...both inflict significant damage when overused!
However, when I use them gently, they are fabulous for removing flakies from Retin-A, etc. |

I simply ADORE my PSF Microfiber cloths! Almost have enough now to use 2 per day.
I've compared these with standard washcloths and there's simply no comparison. The tiny little itty bitty PSF microfiber cloth removes all traces of cleanser, mask, oil, or whatever else I put on my face.
I also compared the PSF microfiber cloth with the inexpensive microfiber clothes you can find in the automotive section at Target. Again, PSF texture is thicker and left the Target clothes in the dust. I'll reserve THOSE for washing my car, just as they were intended to do.
I haven't compared PSF cloths to NCN cloths. I'm just not willing to spend the $$ that NCN charges for the microfiber cloths when I find PSF is so effective.
Hope this helps,

I too have given myself 'rug burns' using the PSF cloths! Just rubbed a bit too zealously - so they are not the same as facecloths. I now know better and am gentle....and I like them very much. |

As Smokyl said above "rug burn" is an appropriate description, sigh.
I wasn't harsh at all, but my basic mistake was going over the same area too many times. ![Embarassed](images/smiles/redface.gif) |

No Stardustdy, you are not alone...I bought one as well about a year ago and I did not see what all the hype was...I used it for a couple months and then I tossed it under my sink. Nothing special to me, and did not clean my skin well....I would use a toner (back then) and my cotton balls were filled with dirt and grim...did a poor job at exfoliating... |

I also bought one on ebay from Stan. You do have to be VERY CAREFUL when you first start using these. You think you are fine and then bam! Your skin can be raw. BUT once you find out the right way, I do find it helps a lot with exfoliation. I can use mine every night now, and no problems, but I did have to work up to that. Good luck! When you find the right one, I think you will really like them! |

I also use PSF's microfiber cloths and I am in love w/them...I use it every other day and you have to be just firm enough and not too abrasive like others have mentioned. I take it and do circular motions over my face. I just used it tonight and it does make a difference, I feel like my toner & moisturizers are absorbing into my skin not just on the surface.
And I even use it on my lips...It's great on the lips too! I just use it gently over my lips when they are chapped or dry and my lips look back to normal...Afterwards, I put a little bit of aquaphor/vaseline on and it's a cheap form of 'lip' therapy ![Wink](images/smiles/wink.gif) |

These cloths are great at taking off the long wearing lipsticks, now that you mention using it on the lips. |

hhm now I'm wondering, perhaps the original face cloth that I have is microfiber too? So that's why I can't really see a difference. ![Embarassed](images/smiles/redface.gif) |

Wouldn't that be something!!! Do you remember where you bought it? Does it have a different FEEL to it? I can use both sides of mine. I think you have to be careful with the washing machine with these, though, so I do lots of hand washing to keep them out of the machine so often. |

I use both sides, and no I don't rub too hard. I have pretty resilient skin and exfoliate regularly with scrubs and BHA/AHA treatments.
I used to use a standard washcloth and could still feel traces of whatever; with PSF, all traces of product are gone. |

Actually, you can machine wash microfiber, but not with any other fabrics. You also cannot use any bleach or any fabric softener if you dry them.
I have a ton of microfiber cleaning cloths (GREAT for dusting!), hair towels, and (don't laugh) lots of little microfiber cloths for cleaning my persians' runny eyes. I wash them all together every couple of weeks. |

Thank you! That is probably the information I had read about these. I was thinking I had even read that someone buys them in different colors for the different jobs they use them for, and put them in little buckets in the laundry room, sorted by color. |

I buy them by color/size...the ones for my cats' eyes are pink. And of course I don't wash any that were used with cleaning agents with the the ones I use on my face or the cats. |

Ok, I am really embarassed to ask, but must. I have one of these cloths, but am wondering if I'm using it the wrong way. I use a cleanser, usually Obagi foaming or a Bioelements cleanser on the cloth, then clean my face with the cloth. I am not seeing any difference or change. Am I doing something wrong? |

For exfoliating purposes, it is best to just use the cloth with water...cleansing agents buffer your skin from the all little fibers that grab a hold of the dead skin cells. |

Thanks, Bethany! So should I just wash my face with cleanser, rinse, then use the washcloth with water? |

I, also, wash my face first and even rinse the soap and makeup all off and then I use my washcloth. I get the cloth wet and I do not even wring it out. Then I go over my whole face with it. I am interested to see what full routine others do here. |

Yes, I too wash my face w/cleanser..Then, I use the microfiber cloth..but I first dampen the cloth first...I definitely think it makes a difference doing it this way...If there is a different way, I'm open to suggestions as well...
But so far, this has really worked! |

I don't think you need to wash with a cleanser first. The point of the micro cloth is that it takes everything off (dead cells, dirt, makeup, oil, etc.) without needing cleanser. And an advantage is that you do not need a wait time after washing and before applying an active like Vit C or retinol because you have not disturbed the acid mantle/PH balance as you would have if you had used a cleanser. (I might not be saying this exactly right; I am repeating what I've read elsewhere.)
BTW, there is no need to wash them by hand or save them up for a special load. Just toss the microfiber cloths into an old pillowcase, seal the end of the case with an elastic like a ponytail holder, and throw them in the wash with whatever load you're doing.
The old pillowcase trick also works for other items (stockings, undies, fuzzy socks, etc.) that you want to keep separate from the other laundry. |
