In my case I guess it would be more of face dysmorphic disorder. In the last couple of years I have become a little obsessed with my facial features. I think my nose is too long, my chin too prominent, my smile weird looking sometimes, and really recently I have been thinking my forehead looks kind of big. I have even done research on plastic surgery. Now I don't know if this is all in my head or if I do really have these problems. I have had anxiety issues and took Prozac for a bit, however I was never really consistent in taking it. As a side note, I also am not completely happy with my body. |

Best thing to do would be to have a frank chat with your family doctor/ psychologist/ psychiatrist/ whoever was treating your anxiety. |

if it has come to a point when you're like obsessed with your appearance and can't think of anything else and it's disturbing your daily life, like going to work(school)?/social contacts and stuff-or maybe earlier.
I also agree with firefox.. |

i work at a plastic surgeons office and do come across BDD. It's when it totally affects your life. You are constantly looking in the mirror, ashamed, depressed on how you look, feelings of worthlessness. This is linked with depression. Once they get plastic surgery....they are still not happy with the way they look and they never will be happy even if you look like Angelina Jolie. But it is VERY common for most people to not like things about themselves. I would never leave the house without make-up because i think my skin is ugly....but people tell me otherwise. Your own self is the worst critic. There are a few things people don't like about themselves and this is completely normal. It's only if it's really affecting your life and you feel like you don't want to leave the house cuz you think you look like a monster. |
