Hi Everyone,

I want to start a DIY peel regimen. I've done deep peels like Jessener's and TCA's with microderm at med spas and spas. I've also done the lighter ones, combos of glycolic/lactic/kojic/etc....

This time I'm trying to see if I can do it myself to save money. I'm looking for a double or mixed peel where I can buy different peels and mix them or layer one over the other. Do you guys have ideas of which ones I should do/layer/mix together?
I have oily acneic skin with hyperpigmentation.

thanks!

I would suggest against mixing acids until you have gained sufficient experience to trust yourself. You may want to start with a TCA peel of around 12% ( ph 1 to 1.2 or so) and work it upto 20% or so as you feel comfortable and trust yourself. Also, for the 1st time, you may want to use it on your neck only to see how your skin as well as you yourself react!

Lactic acids and salicylic acid are found naturally in the skin, so these 2 would be good as well but they wont give you a medium depth peel like the TCA does. In case you decide to use these 2, just try them separately instead of mixing em together. Spa people have experience but even then, sometimes they mess it up too!

Also, a fan brush is great for applying peels, and I almost always use glasses ( my regular eyesight ones) to protect my eyes from any accidental splashes.

I was wondering the same thing. I got my 1st peel from a spa about a month ago and I was only told it was a SA based peel. I peeled for about 5 days but seemed to have my deep acne come out more. I then started more research and bought the Mandelic Acid 25% peel from MUAC and used that once. I didnt get big results, but noticable to me, but thats because i have so much acne and scaring now. I also bought the 8% TCA but havent tried it yet because I was wondering if I could mix any peels...theres also the SA/MA peel combo from MUAC that I might try...if they are sold mixed, i would think we can too?? but i will also wait for a better reply from more experience users. Very Happy

I know some peels can be layered a certain way ( Jessners and glycolic are one I think) but I would not suggest it for at home use. I know that skinobssesion .com has an alpha beta peel that works well and comes in different strengths. Reasonably cheap and free shipping in the us. With way, be careful and do not overdo it. Good luck, and let us know what you decide to do!
