Do you think that it is really necessary to exfoliate once or twice a week? Before I got acne I never used to exfoliate my face at all and it always looked pretty good.
Are there ladies out there that don't exfoliate at all or very rarely? |

You know, I do use a Manuka Honey mask almost daily. That probably has exfoliating qualities. I wonder if I could just stop manual exfoliation altogether. |

I like to exfoliate daily in a mild way. A muslin cloth or a chemical exfoliant. They all keep my skin glowing. |

I think exfoliation is necessary, particularly if you have acne. One of the underlying causes of acne is that your skin can't exfoliate or shed the skin properly, so it ends up clogging your pores and leading to acne. I know some people who have very normal skin and don't need to use anything on their face at all. But for the rest of us, we need to add in a few things here and there, including exfoliants, to help it behave more normally. |

Exfoliation is necessary, especially as you get older. It helps with removing the dead skin layer above (that cleanser doesnt remove), and it allows your moisturiser and serum to penetrate better.
You generally only need to exfoliate 1-2 times a week. |

I think exfoliation is THE missing pieces to a lot of skin routines. I've been using a fantastic product called Cure Natural Aqua Gel from Japan. rolls the dead skin right off your face. It's Japan's best selling skin care product, which should tell you something. check it out on youtube....lot of girls with sensitive skin problems rave about it. |

This sounds similar to the Aloette Enzyme Mask that I have used for years, it does exactly the same thing you just roll it off and watch the yucky dead cells go in the sink!
I love this stuff! |

I think they are similar products. The reason why the Cure Natural Aqua Gel is so popular in Asia though is because it has no alcohol, scent, or preservatives. Other similar products have alcohol and parabens...which to a lot of people is a no no.
As a result, you do have to use finish a bottle of Cure within a year's time, which is fine, because my bottles usually last about 6 months. |

This is pretty pure also it has some parabens, but considering it is only on your face for a short time doesn't bother me really! Plus they are way down on the list.

The older you get, the more you need to exfoliate (IMHO)
For me it's mostly gentle, manual exfoliation with a microfiber cloth and/or Clarisonic skin brush.. I'm also a fan of acids, as in Vitamin C serum and AHA's, but only alternate these 2 or 3 days a week..
Manual exfoliation for me is everyday...(I'm 62.) |

^^ So agree. I so need to exfoliate my skin. The older I get the more I need it. It's quite frustrating for me that I have skin that is aging and yet still full of blackheads and prone to breakouts. I mean my skin wants to hang onto those teenage years but Im so over those years
The clarisonic has been so good in keeping my skin soft and exfoliated. I am so surprised how much exfoliation my skin needs. I was told by my esthetician that a 50% glycolic face peel is a walk in park for me...it doesnt even tingle when she puts it on
If I dont exfoliate I get such a terrible build up so for me I really need it. |
