This morning I woke up and noticed some brown patches on my back, right next to my arm. They are on both sides of my back, next to each arm.
I wonder what this is?
I am half-Asian, so my skin tone is a very light medium brown, the kind that tends to hyperpigment in the sun.
Of course, it is winter right now, though. However, I tend to get really really dry skin and if I don't moisturize religiously, the skin seems to turn brown. Once I moisturize again it usually goes back to normal after a while.
I wonder what this is? Is this just from not moisturizing enough?
I am also on birth control pills, which are known to cause hyperpigmentation (but never have for me so far).
What makes me think that it is dried out skin and not hyperpigmentation is that it is on both sides of my back. Is this symmetry usual in hyperpigmentation? I'm sort of hoping that that is a sign of just insufficient moisturizing in areas that get dry.
But i really have no idea.
If it is hyperpigmentation, what options do I have? Laser treatments etc? I'm guessing it's not that simple, though. |

Lactic acid might be beneficial for your current condition.
I've heard good things about AmLactin. |
