I have sun damage and rosacea (the sun damage caused the rosacea unfortunately). I'm wondering if anyone with sun damage and/or rosacea has had success with light therapy from a dermatologist office? If so, which light therapy device? I'm going in for a consult with a derm in two weeks and will ask about light therapy then.
Thanks!

I had IPL and it was successful but it was not permanent. I have gotten permanent results by using Skinceuticals CE Ferulic in the morning and Retin A Micro at night. It got rid of my brown spots. It does not work for sunspots but is very effective at removing superficial brown spots. |

ah that's a bummer about IPL not lasting. Did you have really bad sun damage? I wonder if the Light Stim has the same wavelength as the IPL. My major issue is hyper-pigmentation actually not brown spots. Thanks! |

After the completed series of IPL's, you do have to have a yearly (or I go every 2-3 years) maintenance touch-up. The veins do grow back.
The Lightsim and IPL are not the same type of procedure. A Lightsim is an LED light and the IPL (Or Photofacial treatment) is an intense pulsed light that is a laser-based procedure. IPL Photofacial’s light beam typically feels like a rubber band snapping against the skin and the LED has no discomfort other than warmth at the highest setting. For rosacea, it is the best choice, IMHO. |

And having both sun damage and rosacea, the IPL's did the most as far as that went. I still use my Baby Q LED every week, but isn't invasive enough to correct the damage done, just a superficial plumber, helps the product to penetrate, and more of a refresher! Or as the hubby claims, I bring it out weekly to show him I use it since it cost a lot at the time (along with my other gadgets)! |

The Photofacial results didn't seem to last very long. I love the Genisis treatment. The results have lasted a long time and it also seemed to help tighten the skin on my face. There was only about $30 difference between the two and it was far superior. |

Vbeam would be good to treat the rosacea but wont help sun damage. Vbeam is more aggressive then IPL for the redness and you will have more down time with it but probably need less treatments. |

I do not know much about the Genesis treatment, is it like an IPL or more like Cool Touch? Boy every office seems to have different names for their treatment.
I had the Cool Touch Laser treatment series, but it didn't do anything for collagen or redness. But then neither did the FRaxel or CO2, just made it worse.
I have had one VBeam but they only used that on a specific spot/vein.
Can't wait to hear what they have, so many new things out these days! |

i checked with the derm's office and they use IPL. i have my first consultation with them on the 14th (next week) so hopefully i'll get some answers from the derm about how long it will last, how effective it will be, how many treatments i'll need to get etc.
keep the responses coming! |
