I did a search and couldn't find anything, apologies if this has already been discussed.
Ever since I was about 13 (I'm 22 now) I have plucked the hair from my top lip and my eyebrows with tweezers. I have a very fair skintone with very dark hair. The issue is that even though I pluck the problem hair away, it grows back very quickly. I remember when I was younger people used to ask me if I shaved my eyebrows as there was always some stubbly hair there that was too short to pluck. As I've been plucking for nearly 10 years now, there does seem to be LESS hair growing back, but the hair that does grow back still grows very quickly. I get a bit sick of plucking everyday/every other day (and that's not me being vain or obsessive with the hair, it really does grow quick) so was wondering if anyone had had any luck with hair growth stunting creams/gels/etc.
Thanks in advance! |

Hi, i have the same problem with VERY unwanted facial hair! The only cream that works by prescription only is Vaniqa cream. It slows down the growth of hair, more on their web site. As for drug store brand creams- they do not work!! The only other option is Laser treatments which can be costly and does take some time to see results. Ive tried laser a few times but didnt get the results as i wanted, it doesn't work very well on blonde hair. Also there is Electrolysis, which isnt expensive but can be a little painful but not over whelming. The bad thing there is for elctrolysis to be done the hair must grow out for a few days so the needle can get down to the hair root. Ive found this process to help and even some hairs didnt come back after several visits. |

Thanks for the tips! I've considered electrolosis as that's something my mum has done every few months, can't say that I've noticed a huge difference from her paid electrolosis to my free tweezer plucking though to be honest. I might look into asking the doctor for a prescription for the cream you mentioned though, that's a great help |

Good luck! Post here if you find any good ways for hair removal. Ive tried several creams, waxing, laser, i even brought a "at home laser hair remover" didnt do anything! I havent tried the No!No hair remover device, ive seen mixed reviews on it. Also its not cheap, about $180 to $200 U.S. dollars. |

Well for hair removal on my legs, bikini line and underarms I use an epilator and it works really well...at least once I'd done it a couple of times so that the hair was all at a similar stage of growth when I epilated. I'd never use an epilator on my brows though as they're shaped so the epilator is too big for me to see where I'm going! The hair on my lip is too fine for the epilator to pick up which is kinda annoying.
I've had those areas waxed a few times, and the results always last at least a week, but at around £15 a go it's not viable to do that often. I tried home-waxing when I was about 17 and ended up taking a layer of skin off...I had two wax-strip shaped scab patches on either side of my upper lip, not a good look! Too scared to try again :P
It would be amazing if there was a permanent hair removal option but right now I'd settle for an option that lets me go as long without hair removal on my face as I do when I epilate my legs. |
