Clarisonic: is it worth it?

Are they really worth it? noticeable effects on the skin?

Currently I cleanse with an oil cleanser and my fingertips...don't want to give up my oil, but every so often, wonder about the Clarisonic...

Would love to hear feedback on this device.

Not worth it. I found thats its drying the skin quite a bit and I have honestly not noticed any differnce in my skin. I use mine mabye once per week, but would not buy it again.

IMO not worth it but I know so many love it. I returned mine. It just seemed to irritate my skin even with the delicate brush and I definitely had more broken caps after using this.

I just love mine and can't believe I waited so long to buy one. It's very helpful on my oily skin at keeping the pores clean. I have very few blackheads anymore. It also is excellent at removing the dirt and grime that can accumulate at the end of the day, and of course - it does get all that makeup off.

On the comments of dry or irritated skin, I have to add to that.

I did notice quite a bit of irritation and dryness the first week of use with mine, and did drop back to using once per day in the beginning.

But, after a week or so of that, my skin adjusted just fine to the brush and I even moved up from the sensitive head to the normal one and finally, to the strongest one.

Your skin does need a little bit of time to get use to the brush.

I would be leary of it if it contributed to more broken caps, though.

I have the Olay brush and love it! Per their advertising, it performs in an equivalent manner to the Clarisonic, but my guess is that it may be a little less powerful.

I have been using my Clarisonic MIA for a month now and I really like how nice and clean my skin looks afterwards. I usually apply some gentle cream based cleaning makeup remover (for sensitive skin) and use a baby wipe to remove any residue after the session. I also tried using some jojoba oil instead of makeup remover and it works lovely too.

All in all, it turned out to be a good investment for me.

I started this way too, for some reason, I've just refused to accept this is needed. Boy was I wrong Shock

, I love my sonic cleaner, it really does make a difference in how my products go on my skin! I did buy a different brand than the clarisonic (saved $150.00) and it works great.

I, too, have the Olay brush and love it. I only use it 3 times a week, though, because I don't want my skin to get too irritated. But I feel it really helps to get all my makeup and daily grime off and my face feels really clean and exfoliated afterwards.

The Olay brush gets rave reviews on MUA.

I was just curious about something that would help me clear away the flakies I sometimes get from retinoids....

But I still want to use my DHC cleansing oil...would this work?

Also, how do you keep the brush heads sanitary?

I think it would work just fine for that purpose BFG.

You may think I am crazy but for all my DIY supplies and skin care washable parts, I do wash with hot water, but once a week or so I use those mesh bags that zip up made for rings, nipples ect, on baby bottles in the top of my dishwasher! I know that way everything is sterilized fully! Laughing

After waffling back & forth over a year, looking at getting a Clarisonic, & doing a lot of online research, I wound up getting a Nutra Sonic. I got the 2 speed, it was $50 on Amazon. Wow...I had no idea how much I would love this thing & the difference it would make in the way my skin looks & feels. I had some clogged pores between my eyebrows & on my chin, they are gone. Even the pores on my cheeks look a lot less obvious. I am definitely a believer. I use the delicate brush, & low speed & do not apply real pressure, just let it rest lightly on my skin & do it's job. I used it 2x a day for a couple of weeks, but now only once a day.

I also like the way it works better using a creamy cleanser, vs a sudsy type. It seems to glide better. I'm currently using Yes to Carrots with it, & the Alpha Hydroxy foaming cleanser without it.

I bought the Olay version first (because of the price) and a month ago I finally bought the Clarisonic.

In my opinion there is no comparison between the two. The Olay brush is like a chid's toy... worse because it is marketed as a true skincare tool. I felt duped... and ended up giving it to my six year old to play with. Sorry gals, that was just my experience!

The Clarisonic has actual sonic vibrations and you truly feel this ... Probably any sonic brush would be better than the Olay one.

However... that all said... if I had to do it over again, I would have taken my $170 and applied it to a good skin spatula instead. I recently bought an inexpensive version and loved the whole feel of it... it got my blackheads out better and my skin felt smoother. I will likely return this version, save, and get something more professional like the Ezzi-Peel or BT-Micro.

I too started with the Olay one, and like Luminosity, I agree there is NO comparison at all between the two. While the Olay one is better than soap and water, it definitely does not do what a sonic cleaner does. But I do not feel you must by clarisonic, they have some worthy competition out there now.

Hi, just joined tonight…I am 43 with dry/sensitive skin with mild rosacea. I only purchased the Clarisonic Plus 2 weeks ago, which came with the sensitive brush head. I first tried the nourishing care cleanser that came with it and loved that spa smell it had. I noticed a difference in my skin the very first try of the Clarisonic. My skin was definitely smoother and had a nice polished look to it. My hubby even commented later that day that my skin looked smoother. I used it twice daily (1 min cycle-lowest setting) but after 13 days my face was looking real irritated. My skin was fine the first week but near the end of the 2nd week is when I was noticing it was getting too irritated. I did not use it at all yesterday to give my skin a break and decided only to use it in the PM from now on. I just ordered the delicate brush head tonight and hope that will work better for my skin right now. Maybe once my skin can tolerate that brush well I can go back to the sensitive brush down the road. I really love this polished, smoother look it has given me and there’s no way I'm giving up on it yet. Thank you for the warning on broken caps – I will be even more careful now I have read that. I did read that some dermatologists have recommended using it only once a day as twice may be too much for some people. I still think this will be a keeper for me even if I have to go down to 2-3 times a week. I think I’m hooked…I actually look forward to doing my skin so much more since I got it. I use mostly SkinMedica products and have not noticed my skin has gotten any drier using the Clarisonic in those 2 weeks. It may be too early to tell, but if I do notice my skin getting any drier, I will be sure to let you know and update.

I've discovered that my favorite brush head for the Clarisonic is... the body brush!!

I use it on my face and neck and it feels amazing. I also bought the deep pore cleansing brush, the acne brush, and I also have the sensitive brush. I wanted to try them all to see what works best. Actually, my first experience with the Clarisonic was with the body brush because that was the one on the model in Sephora. I used it on my face as a kind of dry brush and I fell in love.

Then I realized the body brush was not standard... I was like, huh? But now that I've tried the other (smaller, facial) sizes, I've gone back to the body brush and that works the best for me. No incessant beeping, a bigger brush head to cover more of my face, and the perfect texture. May not work for everyone, but there's something about the bristles that irritate my skin less than the facial brushes. My skin is reacting well - it had been getting a little irritated and now it's calmed down again. Plus everything feels cleaner. A win win! Smile

I also tried the Olay brand, and also another brand that Sally's carry's, (I Skin or something like that), both didn't work for me at all, I decided a skin care brush just wasn't for me and worth my money, they both went back to the store. THEN one day at Dillards they were doing Clarasonic demo's & I though OK it is just a few minutes, what have I got to lose right? They did half my face & I was hooked. I bought the Clarasonic Plus with the body brush also included. I use it for the 2 minute cycle, but only once per day. I can't tell a difference in the brush heads, I have used the sensitive, normal & pore cleaning heads). I do have fine surface capillaries on my cheeks, but have had them for years, (runs in the family we all have them). MY surface capillaries are no worse, but my texture is SO much better, silky & smooth as a baby's back side, no pimples, no problems at all. I could never do without my Clarasonic again, no other brush compares for me, but then again 2 really cheap brands were the only other ones I tried. Who are the other competitors of Clarasonic? Mine is getting right at 2 1/2 years old now & is going to need replaced, only holds a charge about 3 days now on a full charge, (was good for 7 days when it was new using it once a day) so I know it id dying a slow painful death. Also with it the "less pressure the better", just touch your skin is all you have to do & lightly glide it over it, apply no pressure at all works better for me.
