I'm in Melbourne at the moment spending some time with my daughters - and they have talked me into getting laser resurfacing! I've had lots of laser treatments in the past, but all of the non-ablative kind. This time I'm going for the big guns. I'm here without my husband, so I'm going to take the opportunity to do this whilst left to my own devices.
I'm getting the Pearl Fusion Laser. Remember, I had a Pearl Laser two years ago, but this treatment also includes a fractional laser. There's about a week of down-time.
Oh well, nothing ventured, nothing gained! |

Thanks Riley - of course I will. I should have mentioned that I'm going to the same clinic that was featured in the video. It has a very good reputation here.
How I've landed myself in for this, I don't know. I was originally thinking about getting some kind of skin tightening treatment - but the results don't seem to be worth the money. Then my daughters suggested I look at getting an ablative laser for a change. Both of them have just had Fraxel Dual Restore for their hyperpigmentation and they've both had a really good result. We are all as bad as each other - so when we're together, there's no stopping us! |

I watched that doctor's video with the two sisters. You really need a good doctor who knows what he is doing and who is an artist when it comes to filler. Those two sisters looked very natural afterward.
I wonder what the cost was and how long it will last. It might be worth doing if you were going away on holiday because you would come back looking "rested."
Which type of laser is the one to avoid? The one that makes celebrities look like their faces are made of shiny wax. |

Wow! Good luck Keliu. I can't wait to hear all about it. When is it scheduled (or are you just thinking at this point?)
I am curious, what are your goals with the laser besides some tightening? What issues do you want addressed?
*And such lovely daughters - you're very lucky. |

What do you mean "such lovely daughters" - they're not paying for it!! They're just egging me on.
And I am having second thoughts - I'm really quite happy with my skin at the moment. But, although I've had lots of various laser treatments in the past, I've always wondered what an ablative laser might achieve. And now is the perfect time to find out, because I'm husband free. What I would really like to see is some skin tightening. I was considering getting Ulthera done - but even the before and after photos on the website are very uninspiring and it was going to cost nearly $3,000. The Pearl Fusion is $4,000 (that's why I'm having second thoughts, it's so expensive) but the before and after photos at the clinic are very impressive.
I'm not one of those people who are afraid of these types of treatments. As I said both of my girls have just had laser treatments for pigmentation - and the results are fantastic. I would much rather spend my money on something like this than expensive topicals. Although, it would be great to have some cytokines to wack on afterwards.
Basically, what I probably could do with is a face-lift - but for some reason that doesn't appeal to me. You end up with your old skin just pulled tighter. I would rather have brand new skin, I just hope I get a bit of tightening along with it. |

That's just it - it shows what a great relationship you have with them!!
I just watched the video - the one sister had fantastic results, but it wasn't laser alone - they also had fillers and botox.
I know what you mean about the $$ spent on all these topicals (have my hands on some of those cytokines at the moment - whoowoo $$) ![Laughing](images/smiles/lol.gif) |

As I've already got all the fillers and botox stuffed in my face I'm hoping for a similar result! |

Will do. I'm going to the Dr. Chris Moss clinic on Toorak Road - the nurse who does the treatment is called Lisa. She rang me this afternoon and it sounds quite "huge". They give you Valium and an anaesthetic block plus numbing cream and oxygen if you need it!!!!!!!!! I go tomorrow afternoon for a proper consultation. I asked when I would be able to fly home and she said not until 9 days after! |

Keliu, I am so jealous! What kind of after care treatment did they suggest? I have had full face Co2 laser and pearl and a few others. Most of of them say aquaphor and apple cider vinegar rinses. I hated the feeling of the aquaphor and it broke me out. You may have to have a thin coat of it on when you fly home to keep the bacteria at bay and to keep you hydrated. Airplane air is so dry and full of airborne germs. You are so knowledgable you may have some ideas of your own. You will have to let us all know how it goes and what you did for after treatment. Take care and don't freak out the first time you look in the mirror afterwards! I scared the neighborhood children and made one cry!!!! Carol |

Carolb - The aftercare is the vinegar rinses and Vaseline. Interestingly, she is also talking me into purchasing a Cosmedix product which contains EGF (it's especially for speeding up the healing of laser treatments). I guess a stemcell product would be even better but I don't have one at hand and I'm happy to use what the clinic tells me to use.
I'll know more after the consultation this afternoon. |
